Whitewater to Blackwater,The Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy
I’ll never forget my “shock and awe” on December 9, 1992 when Lame-Duck President George Bush Sr. sent troops to Somalia on a supposed “humanitarian mission”. “Bush/humanitarian mission” sounded like an oxymoron to me, it was “pretty/ugly” or “wicked/good”, I couldn’t decide which. A decades-long career of installing, backing, arming and aiding the worst human-rights violating, ruthless, rightist, military dictatorships on Earth, including Saddam Hussein, and a sudden “humanitarian mission” after getting his ass kicked out of the White House? I didn’t buy it for a minute. But everybody else did.
Bush the 1st had, just one month before, been repudiated, dis-elected, humiliated and embarrassed by the American people and Bill Clinton, and I thought to myself that evil SOB is taking revenge on America and he’s going to get a bunch of Americans killed in Somalia and hang the unsuspecting Clinton with a diplomatic/military nightmare before he even takes office. And he did, and they died and it’s on Clinton’s record. Just like Bush Sr. planned. Those Bushes are hateful, vindictive, vengeful people….evil evil people.
Somalia marked the beginning of the “vast right-wing conspiracy” as I know it, and the concerted effort to sabotage Clinton, the Democrats, and eventually send Junior Bush to the White House.
It succeeded brilliantly but the results were an absolute world-wide disaster. And a compliant country full of stupid, gullible dupes, otherwise known as the American people/electorate, were required. Let’s go back.
So Clinton takes office, Bush Sr’s “BS 35-country coalition” for Somalia never materializes and twenty Americans get killed and dragged around Mogadishu on TV before Clinton realizes the folly and pulls out. Black-eye #1. But the dogs were on him, and they were never to stop hounding him until….well they still haven’t stopped….they’re on Hillary now.
It seemed to me I was the only one who noticed Somalia for what it was, and that included Clinton himself, though Hillary, a few years and a dozen baseless scandals later, was to recognize the “vast right-wing conspiracy”.
In 1993 the GOP was on the outside looking in. But the GOP “outsiders” had a lot of money and smarts, and they had a huge band of loyalists still on the payroll inside, including the US Supreme Court appointed by Bush Senior and Reagan, who among other things were to rule that a sitting President could be civilly sued igniting the Paula Jones and other Scaife-financed lawsuits that finally lead to the ridiculous impeachment of Clinton over perjury in a lawsuit thrown out of court as being without merit. A ruling with which the US Supreme Court has reversed itself on several occasions concerning the current administration. Just ask Judicial Watch, Sierra Club etc.
And the GOP vast right-wing conspiracy had the mainstream corporate for-profit media. They still have them. They own the Tim Russerts and Time Magazines, and they use them liberally. Make no mistake about it.
If you think there’s no vast right-wing conspiracy, just compare Clinton’s BloJob lie to Junior Bush, State-of-the-Union address, WMD’s, Saddam’s “nucular” program, UN presentation, CIA leak cover-up etc. and the dozens of other deadly serious lies he has trafficked in which have not caused him a moment of discomfort, but have gotten thousands of Americans killed and cost the US tax-payer, (the 95% poorest tax-payers anyway), a trillion dollars, and cost a million other lives. And no one dares breathe the word impeachment. Even with a majority Democratic House.
From 1992-94 the stupid Democrats were characteristically disunited and lost their House majority as Gingrich and the “politics of anger” took control. The dumbass American people obliged them. So Hillary Clinton’s 1993 health-care plan was laughed out of Washington, and the conspiracy started the endless House investigations of Clinton and the Democrats. And of course there was White-water and all the other absolutely nonsensical years-long investigations by Bush loyalists inside the DOJ, the media and outside the government. All such numerous baseless lawsuits, investigations and scandals, caused endless distractions and were crippling in many ways to Clinton’s ability to govern. More than 1,000 subpoenas were issued to Clinton insiders, associates and many who had never even met Clinton. All part of the design of the vast right-wing conspiracy. Not one serious crime was uncovered.
In spite of all these conspiracies to get Clinton, which dogged him till the day he left office, he remained ever-popular with the people, and the GOP powers had to “pull in their horns” for the 1996 election which would have ruined them. They wisely bided their time. Junior wasn’t ready for the White House anyway (and never would be as we now know).
The dark cloud of election 1996 presented several silver linings for the vast right wing conspiracy and they took full advantage. The silver linings were the opportunity to sacrifice all GOP not “in the loop”. So Senator Bob Dole’s famous “it’s his turn” Presidential campaign of 1996 came and went with a few good-natured laughs and a trouncing in November. With Dole went the last powerful moderate Republican and anyone so associated. And former VP Quayle, the Bush family disloyally threw to the dogs in 1996, to make way for Junior in 2000. How convenient it all was! Like 9/11 and Iraq all the chips fell right into place. The perfect plan was working like a charm.
So ruthless and cynical was this conspiracy that the GOP/Bush machine even co-opted the suicide of Vince Foster, the Clinton's closest friend, which he himself, in his “suicide note” (resignation letter never delivered and torn up) attributed to the politics of personal destruction:
"I was not meant for the job or the spotlight of public life in Washington. Here ruining people is considered sport."
and accused the Clintons of actually murdering him. Incredible soulless evil!! Just unthinkable! The frigging Nazis and Commies wouldn’t have resorted to such meanness and cruelty. But for the vast right wing conspiracy all was fair game and Limbaugh, Falwell & Co obliged them by publicizing various murder conspiracy “theories”, the plethora of nonsensical crap feeding the flames of personal destruction.
