In an 02/14/2008 Washington Post article, Eliot Spitzer concluded: "When history tells the story of the subprime lending crisis and recounts its devastating effects on the lives of so many innocent homeowners, the Bush administration will not be judged favorably. The tale is still unfolding, but when the dust settles, the administration will be judged as a willing accomplice to the lenders who went to any lengths in their quest for profits. So willing, in fact, that it used the power of the federal government in an unprecedented assault on state legislatures, as well as on state attorneys general and anyone else on the side of consumers."

Well, yes, that's how history will judge, if that history is written by a Democrat, with a conveniently profound case of amnesia (all the better to get on the Times Best Seller List). Spitzer's ignoring the '90's Rubin/Clinton administration's deregulation set up for massive transfers of wealth from working class people to the rich as Croesus class is similar to the allegedly "antiwar" liberals who falsely refer to "Bush's" war, when referencing what their guys spent eight years between invasions preparing anew for, by a savage siege that in euphemistic military parlance "softened up" the Iraqis for the scheduled pretext ready re-invasion.

Spitzer was awarded handsomely for his multiple Oscar worthy most excellent performance in misdirection of the public (a winning performance aided immensely by a large ensemble cast of supporting actors in the corporate media). He got an honorary sheriff's badge ... and a New York State Governorship ... for pretending to have cured nothing more than the early symptoms of the Rubin/Clinton administration's financial unraveling, by merely wrist slapping just a few of the dumbest of the bad apples. But the cocky self-absorbed Spitzer forgot that there is no honor among thieves. Had he not been so all about Ralph Cifaretto all the time, with his partners in crime, he'd still be misdirecting the public now, as a Demgod Governor.

The arbitraging hedgefund global currency manipulating resource plundering Croesus Class apparently has been afflicted with amnesia too. When the mighty Croesus decided to invade Persia, he consulted the as clear as Greenspan speaking Oracle of Delphi, who with perfect ambiguity told him what he thought he wanted to hear: "If you attack the Persians you will destroy a great empire."

Croesus didn't think to ask which empire would be destroyed.
