Well the votes are in ... Sorry George, No Sale !

I watched the George Tenet interview on PBS the other night and I guess being the eternal optimist that I am, I actually thought that somewhere in all the fluff and posturing there might be a kernel of truth to gleaned, a nugget that when dug out and cleaned up and polished might actually tell us something that we didn't already know. (When will I learn !)

What I saw was a pathetic attempt by another one of the Bush/Cheney criminal cabal's inner circle trying desperately to rewrite history and rehabilitate his image by blaming everyone else in the Whitehouse with the possible exception of the chef. But since I haven't read the book, I can't say with a degree of certainty that the chef is out of the woods yet.

As I watched his herky jerky motions and his wild eyed ranting, I couldn't help thinking that he reminded me more of a speed freak or some kind of crack head trying to convince the local cops that he wasn't high and he would never even think of touching the stuff, while sweating profusely and rocking from side to side!

Evidently I wasn't the only one who was not impressed with his performance.
While zipping around the virtual world, as is my habit every night, I came across the following on the Thinkprogress.org website ..

An open letter to George Tenet,

written by group of former CIA and other intelligence officials, urges the former CIA Director “to dedicate a significant portion of his royalties to soldiers and families of those killed or wounded in Iraq.” They write:

"Mr. Tenet, you cannot undo what has been done. It is doubly sad that you seem still to lack an adequate appreciation of the enormous amount of death and carnage you have facilitated. If reflection on these matters serves to prick your conscience we encourage you to donate at least half of the royalties from your book sales to the veterans and their families, who have paid and are paying the price for your failure to speak up when you could have made a difference. That would be the decent and honorable thing to do."
