"The U.S. is about to experience things that will shock the conscience of even the most immoral of humans." I made that statement a few weeks ago to someone and one of my editors said: "I think we should take Rohn's warning seriously."
In the legal arena there is a yardstick, if you will, called "shocking the conscience". Today, the U.S. is in "shock" as it reels from back-to-back white-terrorist attacks; dozens dead. I am not shocked; and, if you are, you have greater shocks ahead. Best you gird your loins or grid your lions. In the months to come, you will see social and civil disruption that shall make you muzzy. It is quite possible that you will see soldiers in your streets; aside from the usual uniformed thugs. Then there is the silent elephant in the room: some manner of political assassination of which the United States has a long history and is overdue. Everyone with any modicum of intelligence is thinking it, but too intimidated to state it.
If you give a dance, you've got to pay the band.
I could say much on what has taken place in the past week (remember Gilroy, another white terrorist who killed a Black Person in America and two brown children one six, the other 13), but I knew that it would be covered wall to proverbial wall and there would be little I could add. But, more importantly, I pretty much had already said it October 2, 2015 (four years ago). Those same terrorists have now been sanctioned and emboldened by the U.S. President to add targets of color. Here is what I wrote four years ago, and that is the saddest thing:
Like an endless loop of old re-runs, here we go again. Yesterday, in Umpqua, Oregon, yet another deranged white man takes it to other white people. However, no talk of "white on white" crime. In fact, it seems that the only group of people that have such a racially designated criminalistic are black people. Despite the fact that most people, in the United States, are murdered by members of their own ethnic group "black on black" crime is unique, and ubiquitous, in its terminology. I wonder why?
As of October 1, 2015 (the day of the Umpqua massacre) there have been 294 mass shootings in the United States this year. That means there are more than one per day. The vast majority of which were committed by white men, with white victims. From that statistic alone, I would expect that there would definitely be a concern with "white on white" crime; hell, at least a designation in the criminalistics lexicon. How peculiar that it is not so; I wonder why?
I guess the good news is that at least it wasn't "terrorism". Or was it? I mean, I imagine if I were one of those students or instructors hearing the report of shot after shot getting ever closer, that I would have been "terrified". Unfortunately, I know what it is to have a person shooting at you with the intent to kill you and I can tell you, first hand and unequivocally, that it is beyond "terror", however liberating the experience. I guess, even though the alleged shooter apparently inquired about the religion of his victims prior to assassinating them, it wasn't "terrorism" because he didn't scream "Allahu Akbar" and he was white. I wonder had the same number of people been killed, under the same exact circumstances, and his name was Abdullah, and he had a brown face and yelled "Allahu Akbar", if that would have been "terrorism". I wonder how the media would have reported the story and, thusly, how you would all be discussing it today. I wonder.
I wonder if those nine black Americans murdered in cold blood, while in a Christian church, in Charleston, South Carolina, less than 4 months ago by another deranged white man (Dylann Roof) were "terrified". But we know that was not a "terror" attack. We know because the heavily armed, deranged white man that perpetrated that massacre was taken to grab a burger, by police, on his way to jail subsequent to arrest.
12-year-old Tamir Rice didn't get treated to a burger subsequent to his summary execution by a uniformed Blackist pig for playing with a toy gun. I wonder why? Oh yeah, he was dead. Is there any intellectual honesty in this country? Any?
Two weeks ago, as I was about to take my child to school the phone rang. I looked at the caller I.D. and saw it was her school. I knew that something was up for them to be calling at 0645, so I immediately answered. It was an "auto-dial" call informing me that there had been a "credible threat" against the school resultant of a student posting threats to "shoot the school up" on social media. The school is predominately white. The call also informed that the police had the young man in custody and there appeared to be no collusion, or any danger to students. I have to admit to asking myself the agonizing question: do they really have this under control, or are they so desperate for money that they are willing to take a chance on my child's life (and the lives of other children). Now, I am very familiar with the school administration and have utmost confidence in them; nonetheless it was not a good feeling to have. Since my child is enrolled in Advanced Placement (college level) courses, and has an intense workload, a single day out of school would have catastrophic effects. However, what good would any of it be if she were to go and be injured or worse? I must have called the school a dozen times that day; I hope to never be in such a situation again.
By the way, the student that made the threats was a white boy.
America: the "leader of the free world". The world's only "superpower", the "greatest nation in the world" home of "the happiest place on earth".
But you can't keep your kids, let alone mine, safe in school.
Lovely.
