Think about it. Trump has already teed up a reason to dispute the election results in reference to "Chinese meddling". The opposing party has been on a four year sojourn to prove "Russian meddling" and assure all that it will happen again. Gerrymandering has taken place. The voting machines are a national embarrassment that any savvy 10 year old can hack into. Black voters perpetually get the electoral shaft and their votes are nullified or disappear. Most ominously, Donald Trump has diabolically stacked the Supreme Court to a two-thirds majority and any discrepancies or constitutional fights will, ultimately, land in their laps for it has happened before.

The question is, what happens afterwards? No matter how one looks at the situation, no matter the political calculus, it is problematic in a way that I have never seen in my lifetime. I hope that this society is cognizant of what it is in store for. Years, maybe decades, from now historians, sociologists, political scientists and psychologists will look upon these days with the same fascination and alarm that I do. Sanguinely, they will learn by what has happened here, because this reality television program will just be getting started the morning after, the night before.
