Bush Lauds Economy for Its Resilience

Bush stressed that the economy has been resilient in responding to problems, an apparent rebuke to those who have predicted that the downturn in housing and financial markets will cause prolonged weakness.Bush also asked Congress to extend the tax cuts that he championed in his first term, which are scheduled to expire in the coming years and are a central goal of Bush's economic policy.
