No Blank Check. Open letter to Congress

Dear Congress

Regarding the requested $700 Billion bail out.

NO BLANK CHECKS

Remember this is the administration that lied to you to start a war that has resulted in well over a million deaths so far...with no real end in sight. Do you really trust that this is not, at least in part, another "WMD" of the financial sort? Is it intended to bail out the wealthy at the expense of the tax payers who are already paying for the war to make Haliburton richer?

You need to assure that Congress retains oversight ability to monitor the use and the effects of the money as it is handed out. Yes something must be done, but don't trust the Bush administration with a blank check and no over sight. That is like asking the fox to guard the hen house. Foolish to say the least.

Also the money should NOT be allowed to pay salaries to the very people who helped bring about this mess. The cash should be used only to buy out enough shares to infuse the corporations with the cash necessary to survive. Those stocks become the property of the people of this country. I like Kucinich's plan to provide every citizen a share. This would be a great way to bolster social security by setting these savings accounts up to pay dividends to those who have retired and to accumulate "DRIP" funds for future retirement or perhaps educational grants.

I am not alone in wanting to see something come back to us for the money foolishly wasted by Washington and Wall Street. That $700,000,000,000 is OUR money and we have a right not to be ripped off by the small cadre of the very wealthy who caused this meltdown.

DO NOT VOTE for any bail out that does not include over sight and a plan to benefit the American People directly. A moratorium on mortgages would also be a good idea. I am facing foreclosure myself as well as bankruptcy. I receive social security and have no health care.

Respectfully

Paul Kruger
