Sacrificing Our Troops To the Matrix

Keanu Reeves has started promoting the third episode in the MATRIX series. In the movie, the matrix is this inhuman machine that chews up humans in pursuit of its unstated needs. Here in reality, we have the Bush nation rape regime sacrificing our brave troops, using fraud to lure them into loyalty, but underneath, they are there, without UN, without ally support, because Bush wants to privatize over 150 Iraqi assets. That means he wants to give the assets to his cronies.

The UN and our allies are ready willing and able to help in Iraq. They won't move because the US (God I hate to think of Bush and his people as representing the US. They are such despicable embarassments) refuses to release its hold on Iraq.

To get help, to allow us to send home some troops, to get the protection of an real international alliance, not the bogus, impotent, unrespected one the Bushies claim we have, we must declare and then quickly demonstrate, through our actions, our willingness to let go of Iraq.

As I write this Op-Ed, CNN reports of another GI death, and then puts a sequence of grieving relatives of recently killed GIs on the screen. One mother says, "They are telling our nation's leaders that they don't want our troops over there. So why aren't our leaders listening and bring our babies home?"

The answer is, they want more time to "mine" the assets of Iraq and hand them over to the corporations they are either indebted too, in partners with or hoping to bring on board the Bush Nation-Rape team.

I call it the Nation-Rape team because it is not so different than date-rape. Bush courted the American people first as a presidential candidate, and then the congress to support his war, sweet talking, schmoozing, good 'ol boy talkin' and lying,  defrauding and colluding to deceive the voters and the congress. Then, once he got in the door, "on the date" he started raping-- first America-- our resouces, our protections of our freedoms, our environment, worker safety, corporate regulations that prevent unrestrained corporate abuses, and then Iraq.

Now we must go through the pain and sadness of hearing daily reports of soldiers who have died for the Matrix, died so some corporate cronies of the Bush regime can violate the sovereignty of some Iraqi asset.

The right wing blonde talking head CNN puts on the air mouths a smirking challenge to Katrina Vandenheuvel, editor of  The Nation, "How do propose we get out of Iraq?"

The real question is how do we get out of this quicksand mess the right wing neocon idiots put us into? When one of my kids was two years old, he climbed up on a chair and then, not knowing how to get down, he fell and hurt his foot. It was a moment where he taught me. We often find we can do things that we still don't know how to undo or get out of.

The truth is that the US military conquest of Iraq was no great victory. It was a cakewalk, partly because the Bush lie team had massively over-exagerated the power and danger of Saddam's forces and partly because Saddam's strategy, so clear now, was to use Ju-Jitsu, letting the US win the first move and lunge forward deep into Iraq, so now, with most of Saddam's troops unharmed, un-captured, they are free to hector the US GIs like a thousand hornets, allying with and aiding the foreign born jihadists who have merged on Iraq to target our troops like fish in a barrel.

A psychologist friend says that for clients to heal and change, they must, like tarzan, swinging through the jungle on vines, let go of one vine to reach out for and move forward to the next one. Bush and his people can't and won't let go of the current nation-rape opportunity they have in Iraq. The question is, how many more GIs must die and how great an outcry must be raised for BushCo to be forced to let go, for them to have their greedy hands pried free of lucre that keeps them glued to Iraq. That is when the rest of the world will come to Iraq's aid and to the aid of our innocent troops.

Those troops are helpless pawns caught in the illusion of the matrix-- that they are fighting for democracy and freedom. It is a tragic deception. The right might rage on that it is wrong to raise this issue, to take away from their loyalty and patriotism and sacrifice by questioning the purpose of their mission. But those pundits and false patriots are part of the programming team that maintain the lie of the Matrix, the lie of the BushCo nation-rape mission.

Bush and company have been very effective in silencing the media by hiding the coffins, hiding the thousands of wounded, blocking the press in Iraq and acting, in Iraq, like the communists used to in China and Russia, with "minders" required in key locations. Fortunately, the families of the dead and wounded troops are starting to speak out. Veterans of past wars, who fought for real, for freedom and democracy, are raising their voices in outrage as the Bush lies surface. Dennis Kucinich has proposed an exit plan. All the Democrats should be demanding that the US do what it takes to bring in the UN and our allies. Now it is time to take to the streets, to put together mass demonstrations
