The Enablers Of Facism, The Mainstream News Media

by William Cormier     Page 1 of 1 page(s)

Tell A Friend

Very few doubt that Bush and Cheney have wrecked havoc on America and caused hundreds of thousands of deaths throughout the world, but in retrospect, their actions and behavior have been condoned and suppressed by America’s fascist Mainstream News Media - and without their support, The Commander in Thief and Darth Cheney would have been impeached, removed from office, and prosecuted for their crimes years ago if we still had real news and true investigative reporting in the United States.

The MSM, now owned and controlled by corporate America, have betrayed the people, and without their betrayal, the criminal actions of a Presidency that is out of control would have been halted long before they were able to bankrupt our country and compromise the very essence of liberty and freedom! Those who control Fox News, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and the huge amount of radio and television stations throughout our country - which are being bought-out by fascist forces that support corporatism and tyranny, are still gaining in strength - and as usual, Fox News, The Republican Learning Channel, constantly leads the charge to change a democratic republic into a fascist and authoritarian state. Our anti-trust laws have been ignored and changed to allow the enemies of freedom to flourish, while individual rights are now severely curtailed and are disappearing almost as fast as the wealth and integrity that once made America the world’s most respected superpower.

Under the Bush administration, our Constitution has been rendered ineffective, there are no checks and balances, the rule of law only applies to those who the government sees fit - the War on Drugs has been proven to be a joke, the War on Terrorism is certainly aimed more at American citizens who disagree with the government, and Congress is either too cowardly to impeach the criminals who are destroying our country, or have been intimidated, bought-off by lobbyists, and/or threatened into silence by an administration that is beginning to rival Hitler’s Third Reich! The lobbyists on “K Street” represent nothing more than legalized bribery, and the Democratic Party has been infiltrated by “Blue Dog Democrats” that are nothing more than Republicans in disguise.

The most recent event, which to me is the straw that is breaking the camel’s back, is that Faux News has refused to allow Ron Paul to participate in a Presidential debate (LINK) that sounds the death knell for fair elections in America, and now corporatism (fascism), by and through the MSM, are now choosing who will be our candidates for President by marginalizing anyone they see as a threat to their unbridled efforts to corrupt our democratic republic. The war profiteers, also known as the “industrial military complex” are destroying our country, and a complicit MSM is responsible for our decent into fascism and tyranny. Billionaires such as Rupert Murdoch should be viewed as “enemies of the state” and prosecuted for advocating and spewing propaganda instead of real news, and it’s getting worse rather than better. Money talks, and while the Average American loses financial ground by the day, corporatism is gaining in power and further corrupting the MSM to the point that as viable news sources - we the people have only one or two voices that espouse freedom and liberty, while the Neo-cons are still taking over the airwaves and our newspapers in an effort to further the lies that allow a country to become blinded to the truth so our dynasty families and corporations receive benefits and power that is bought and sold like the commodity it has become…

MURDOCH THE WAR MONGER: Just after the Iraq invasion, the New York Times reported, “The war has illuminated anew the exceptional power in the hands of Murdoch, 72, the chairman of News Corp… In the last several months, the editorial policies of almost all his English-language news organizations have hewn very closely to Murdoch’s own stridently hawkish political views, making his voice among the loudest in the Anglophone world in the international debate over the American-led war with Iraq.” The Guardian reported before the war Murdoch gave “his full backing to war, praising George Bush as acting ‘morally’ and ‘correctly’ and describing Tony Blair as ‘full of guts’” for his support of the war. Murdoch said just before the war, “We can’t back down now – I think Bush is acting very morally, very correctly.” [New York Times, 4/9/03; Guardian, 2/12/03] LINK

The shrill voices of Neo-conservatism are being displayed everywhere, and “fair and balanced” reporting is something that lies in our past, while the Rupert Murdoch’s of the world grow wealthier as they work to dismantle a democratic system that led the world for over 200 years. Scum like Carl Rove are being granted a voice on the MSM, and yesterday, The Huffington Post reported that Bill Kristol, a Neo-conservative that has been wrong on almost every issue he has advocated is now being awarded a column in the New York Crimes. LINK CNN gave in to the fascists by allowing Glenn Beck to spew his hate and lies on what used to be America’s premier news source, and those who speak with truth and clarity are being ignored - drowned out by the forces that control what used to be the American dream.

As citizens that promote constitutional values and the rule of law, most of us are screaming into the void, and no matter what the issue is, especially as it concerns S 1959 - the MSM simply ignores the cries for a return to values once heralded throughout the world. We never thought it could happen to us, but it has, and other counties have thrown out those who support endless war and fascism. Tony Blair received his walking papers in England, Australia’s Prime Minister John Howard was booted out of office, and even Spain had the courage to throw-out a President that was closely aligned with the Bush administration. We have poured countless billions of dollars into Pakistan - and for our efforts, Pervez Mushareff allowed Al Qaeda and the Taliban a safe haven and were allowed to regroup, something that President Bush promised our country he would never allow to happen; Pakistan is now a greater threat to world peace and security than Iran - another blunder by Neo-conservatives that still have a voice on the MSM, even though their history in power has been one of corruption, death, and financial insolvency, the MSM still allows them to spew hatred and lies in a concerted effort to undermine constitutional principles that were the basis of our democracy.

To those of us who cherish our Constitution, the rule of law, and the principles that guarantee liberty and justice for all - how are we to combat the takeover of America by corporations and dynasty families that should be convicted of treason and subversion? How do we fight the MSM? The enemies of freedom are everywhere, infiltrating social networking communities and masquerading as real people whose only purpose is to cause upheaval and strife in the groups that are desperately working to throw off the yoke of oppression. How do we insure that we will have a real election in 2008? Dennis Kucinich was marginalized just as Ron Paul is now - and we, the people who support our corporations by purchasing their goods, allow it to happen, and even when our voices are heard each and every day by Americans calling Congress to complain about our loss of liberty and the corruption that is rampant in Washington, the MSM stands mute, oblivious to the people, cowards who deserve nothing less than what Bush and Cheney deserve.

If any of the above “corporations” believe that I have slandered them, especially as it applies to Rupert Murdoch, I invite you to sue me for defamation of character. Bring in into the courts and let a jury of my peers pass judgment; I’m either telling the truth or lying - and I would love to have my day in court. In fact, the American people deserve their day in court to redress the wrongs and crimes perpetrated by those who are enemies of the constitution and democracy - something that our Congress is charged to do, but like the MSM, they still tremble in cowardice and complicity - hoping against hope that this nightmare called Neo-conservatism and fascism will somehow be defeated. 2008 will be a pivotal year, and if anyone other than Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich is elected, we as a people all need to stick our heads between our legs and kiss freedom and liberty good-bye, along with the prosperity and standard of living that has been the hallmark of America - which is quickly descending into third-world status, compliments of the Bush Crime Family and a cowardly and complicit MSM.

I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/

Don't let Congress off the hook

Great article! But Congress is even more responsible for enabling Bush.  Just about the entire Congress needs to be replaced.

Is there a way that groups could sue News Corp? They were cheerleaders for the war in Iraq.. they sat on their hands while our rights were stolen..

This is something I've been comtemplating a good while.

Unfortunately, "freedom of speech" takes many turns in the judicial system. I've been there, filing on my own and representing myself - which I’m capable of doing, however, as it pertains to the MSM, much of what they do is protected under "free speech."

I'm sitting back and waiting for the right time, when a news event that is beyond interpretation is totally misrepresented to the point that it is equivalent to yelling "fire" in a movie theatre, which is not protected under free speech. It has to be an instance that is so obvious, and the negative impact of such distortion "shocks the conscience" of the average American. It can be done, but as far as attacking Coulter, Limbaugh, Beck, and even Kristol - as long as it's labeled as an "opinion" we have no effective means of redress.

On the other hand, I wish my writing talents were such that I could petition for equal time to counteract their subversion, misinformation and spin, however, I recognize that I'm not articulate enough or well-known as one who is recognized or able to meet the demands of being able to qualify as a liberal/progressive journalist, because after all, I'm just a private citizen with no formal training in writing.

Equal time?

Can you still petition for equal time?  I thought that Reagan had stopped that.  I hope that I am wrong or that it can be reinstated with a class action suit or something.

Perfect article!

I am so grateful for OpEdNews for the opportunity to read and write what we are all feeling. That is, those of us who are aware of the decline and fall of our country. I write the MSM every day and chide them for their failure to report the news.

But with the entrance of Wexler and two others on the Judiciary committee onto the impeachment scene, I have a little hope for the future. I truly believe that OpEdNews and MoveOn etc. had much to do with this turn of events. The internet has provided a place for us to learn what's going on and do something about it by educating the public as best we can.

Please accept my thanks for your part in this. I have read all of your articles and heartily concur with what you say.

Right ON

"The truth is that if American journalists had been doing their job correctly, the American people would have known about most of the intelligence, reports and evidence that the Bush Administration simply ignored because it didn't support their opinions and justify their war plan for Iraq. After all, they ignored all the reports and evidence that: 1) Saddam Hussein did not have a relationship with al Queda; 2) that Iraq was not trying to buy materials from Niger for an Iraqi nuclear weapons program; 3) that Hussein was not planning an attack on the U.S.; and 4) that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The Bush Regime ignored all the intelligence, reports and evidence. Instead, they claimed otherwise, and the mainstream American news media failed to investigate or report the real truth about it."

Exactly right

I think that this is the greatest threat to democracy right now.  If the media is owned by corporations that generally promote bad ideas and strifle good ones, we will never be able to have a true democracy.  It is true that the internet has leveled the playing field somewhat, but it is not enough.  The mega corporations that hold a large market share of print, radio, & TV need to be divested and broken into smaller entities. There is no good reason from a public interest point of view that GE or Disney should be allowed to own networks.   Networks should be independent of other large corporations.    FCC regulations should be enacted that would restore a market place of ideas rather than allowing the public to be abused by  neocon blather 24/7.  No doubt Fox and the other media corporations will squeal like pigs if moves are ever made in this direction, but it has to be done for the sake of democracy.  Even the most bland politicians with latent progressive tendencies are relentlessly attacked by the MSM as if they are some kind of bomb throwing anarchist--i.e. Carter and Clinton.  In dealing with corporations, you have to understand that they will attack you with everything that they have whether you disagree with them a little or you disagree with them a lot.  There is just no way to negotiate with these folks; they don't really negotiate, they just stall.  Therefore when progressives come out on top and win elections, they need to attack these corporate entities just as relentlessly as they are attacked and yes kick them when they are down.

I've been trying for six years to call the publics attention to the fact that

MSM should be also be held accountable  for the mess this nation is in. the lies, the omissions, intel. they kept secret, the influence they've had on this war. The millions that have needlessly died, or been maimed because of them, and until the last few months it appeared no body was listening. Thank God it seems to be on a roll now

That was the rationale for this article.

Bush and Cheney, and their co-conspirators, are nothing more than criminals that are being protected by the MSM. IF the MSM did their job, Bush would have never been reelected, even in spite of the massive voter fraud that occurred, and as long as these fascist bastards protect them from the country as a whole, it's close to impossible to awaken the rest of the country.

If we change our view of the Presidency and look at them as the criminals they are, then the actual source of their power and ability to escape from the wrath of the people lies squarely on the shoulders of the MSM - and while we all despise their actions, none of which could have happened if we had real investigative reporting and a MSM that was honest - not several sources that refuse to report fairly upon events and issues that would bring the entire country to arms (in a manner of speaking - not literally), they would have been ousted from power long ago…

We, the people, and I mean that term literally, need a news outlet and commentators that will speak with clarity and truth, backed up by factual evidence – and it needs to be aired at 6:00 PM along with all of the other so-called news. That takes money, and I only wish that someone like Warren Buffet would make an endeavor like this a reality – and I’d give five years off my life to help write and/or actually be a regular contributor so that Americans would have a real alternative to the lies and spin that dominates every MSM station in the country.

Wiping the slate

Great article. Everything you say is true, as the clock keeps ticking towards total collapse or total crackdown. It's hard to know which will occur first.

I do not think, however, that either Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich - even though they are far better than the rest of the phonies - will make the kind of significant difference that will turn eveything around. It's far too late to hope that peaceful change will occur as the result of what has become a corrupted election process.

What really needs to happen is for this filth and rot at the top to be exposed for the criminal element it is. Who alone has the intestinal fortitude for that? No one. In other words, a scandal of immense propertions is needed to wipe the slate clean, and that can only happen with a concerted, clandestine, multi-faceted plan involving many people and millions of dollars. The one spark that could ignite this is would be 9-11 Truth.

What are the solutions to MSM power?

Well said and so true.  If only we could, at the very least, separate editorship from ownership - so major media editors/produceer were not the at-will employees of mega media moguls.  We need to make the people in these key posts quasi-public employees protected by hiring-firing review boards.
See EditorFreedom.com -  a modest proposal for doing the above.

The Horse is Out of the Barn...

so it's useless to lock the gate now... hmmm?

i.e. since corporations were granted the same status as flesh & blood persons (citizenship) via a court decision made in 1868 (Santa Clara County vs Southern Pacific Railroad) and then exploited by the Military Industrial Death Machine, lead by the likes of General Electric, (who bought and control NBC, for example) it is TOO late to begin attempting to reign in these blood-soaked maniacs by trying to change the laws they have now authored giving them power over even the FCC...

There IS one thing we might try (before resorting to general strikes and armed rebellion) and that is STOP all financial support of any advertiser who supports the media you detest.

1. STOP tuning to FUXNews (for example) - they don't care what you think of their programming - as long as your TV is tuned to their network they have what they want from you: Viewership statistics. Your cable provider KNOWS what station you are watching they keep stats on everything.

The MSM, whether is it print or broadcast, makes its money from the advertisers who PAY by the column inch and by the second to have their advertising messages shoved IN YOUR FACE at every possible opportunity. The content/programming presented by the MSM is the BAIT used to attract your attention long enough so that you can be DELIVERED TO the advertiser's message(s).

YOU (we) can short circuit this equation (or attempt to) by refusing to buy anything from any advertiser who supports the facsict media with their ad dollars.

Set aside some time to compose a brief, pointed IRATE letter which you can then send, email, deliver to ANY advertiser who supports fascist media. Your letter should explain in clear, direct language that you will refuse to purchase any product, service or idea from them because they are supporting and participating in the fascist destruction of the USA and the Constitution. Explain that you are willing to go out of your way to patronize the competition who do not advertise in & give their financial support to the fascist media.

Also explain that you are actively working to educate all your family and all your friends and co-workers regarding the fascist businesses who advertise in the fascist media.

Put simply: REFUSE to buy anything from any advertiser who advertises on FUX - AND let them know you are refusing because they support FUX with their ad $.

Businesses know that for every person who takes the time (HAS the time) to write a message, there are ten more who feel the same way who just do not take/have the time to make that effort to commuicate - remind them of this fact also.

DO spread this message to friends, family and co-workers. When the businesses who support fascist media begin to hear from their potential customer base that they are in fact LOSING business because of their ads on FUX, and other fascist media, they "may" decide to stop advertising which WILL have an effect on the fascist media.
