Bill Moyers on Rupert Murdoch Cites Clinton Ties

A remarkable Bill Moyers journal was made prior to the Wall Street Journal's purchase by Rupert Murdoch. That is significant for two reason. He notes a Clinton tie-in to Murdoch and FOX News then. One which persists. And, by implication, he implies exactly what is unique about this race. Obama does not take anything from Murdoch. And that means Murdoch and his ilk can only be beaten by "we the people".

What makes this dynamic new is the rise of cyberspace as a reasonably democratic entity. I have little doubt that if Obama wins the nomination and Presidency that Murdoch and his other jaws of hell entities will seek to close the door on internet democracy.

My only reflection on the Moyers video, beyond the above, has to do with LBJ. Moyers was an LBJ protege, almost a sun. I associate LBJ with the very jaws of hell. I will be searching around today to see if Moyers has ever rejected and renounced the man who helped eviscerate any shred of hope that existed for an achievement of the sort of hope that Obama represents.

Make no mistake, the Murdoch-FOX attack on Barack is not playing games for ratings. It is dead earnest and mandated from the top. No one is better able to identify a threat than one who is infested by the various demons associated with the jaws of hell.

Moyers has said some hard things about LBJ

... Calling him out for the war. He was a little apologetic and protective about him also, the take i get is that he thought that LBJ's success at passing social programs and obvious skills at law making should sort of excuse him for the war. And there is no denying that wild, colorful man could work Congress like a high-pressure salesman at the biggest car lot in town... In those terms he made even Clinton look pathetic.

But there can be no excuse for LBJ prolonging that war. Just as there can be no excuse for Obama or Hillary prolonging this war if they make it in.

However, we all have these pet beliefs not always based on logic, and i am willing to excuse Bill Moyers for his; as his service to the American people has been extraordinary ;)

I have the same problem

I have trouble cutting LBJ any slack. Part of it is the conspiracy theorist in me. I am not a full-fledged one, but I to think there were so may folk who wanted to get rid of the change makers in the 60s that it is a stretch to think that no one was involved but three whacko gunmen. I think LBJ wanted all of them gone in thought if not in deed.

I do have writing credits in a major newspaper--long ago.
Currently, I write for online political boards with a
definite liberal bias. Proud parent, grandparent and
aspiring poet and novelist. I never stopped aspiring.
Finally managed to earn a BA degree in communications/ American lit. Love romantic fiction that also stretches
the intellectual muscles. And am mad about romantic

Obama only poses questions, not answers

Too many unanswered queries about this illusive, new figure in American politics.  His sudden rise, his inability to factually confront his past. His cozy dance with Rezko, Pritzker, Goolsbee et al.  His raw, unabashed ambition to go where no black man has gone before.  That is what should make us all question and perhaps shudder, as well.  Why won't anyone put the hard issues to him for real debate?  He hedges and throws rhetoric around as if it were flashy balloons at a garden party.  What about Raila, his controversial cousin in Kenya, for whom he stumped during that country's election?  What about his Muslim/Christian schizophrenia?  Religion isn't something you suddenly embrace for political expediency; it is a lifetime commitment.  He won't denounce the Jerimiah Wright hate-mongering and we are supposed to believe this is a sign of loyalty and therefore character?

I don't think so.  And please, the old hat trick of blaming Bill and Hillary Clinton for every tragedy since the Titanic is stale and transparent in its one-dimensional viewpoint.  Fox may be pitching Hillary; the other big five are definitely underwriting Obama.  LBJ was a strong political animal in the old tradition. With few exceptions, what has come since makes him appear angelic.

If Obama were posing a question...

it would likely be, "What are you talking about?" Or it might be, "Where do the profits from this Koolaid stand go?" Another possibility, "Is this propaganda or impropaganda?"
