Bush will not leave office willingly

by Robert R. Regl     Page 1 of 1 page(s)

Tell A Friend

In seven years George W. Bush has arrogated previously unthinkable dictatorial powers to himself.

Aided and abetted by right-wing Republicans and spineless Democrats in Congress he has rendered the Constitution utterly useless as an instrument for protecting the people from his authoritarian excesses. He has offered his profane opinion of the Constitution thus, "... it's just a God-damned piece of paper'' - cited by Doug Thompson in Capitol Hill Blue, Dec 5, 2005.

We all know of Bush's lies and crimes and they need not be recounted here (a Google search of - Bush lies and crimes - produces over 2 million hits). What I want to discuss here are the consequences in store for America unless steps are taken immediately to stop Bush from dismantling our democracy and replacing it with a tyrannical plutocracy.

The first steps toward this wretched future have already been taken. He has lied us into two never ending wars and has ambitions to add a third. He has instituted programs to abduct, imprison and torture anyone that he decides is an enemy (remember - he's the "decider"). He has amassed a private mercenary army willing, for a price, to mobilize against American citizens at his order (as in New Orleans).

I believe that Bush is a self-absorbed psychopath ready to concoct a false-flag event, declare martial law and indefinitely "postpone" the 2008 elections. He would then appoint himself as "temporary" supreme commander during the "emergency", which of course would never end!

The non-violent way to prevent this calamity is to impeach both Bush and Cheney and remove them from office.

Bob is a retired engineer and lives in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. He contributed significantly to the post-Challenger redesign of the solid rocket boosters for the space shuttle.
He has taught engineering at several universities and was involved in the design of Offshore platforms.
Since retiring his main activity has become writing directed at ridding America of its fascist president and the right-wing corporatism he represents.

Right!

Interesting that no one has commented on this until now. I have heard this scenario predicted by many people over the last 6 months. It seems not only plausible but likely to me. Bush hasdestroyed so much of our precious democracy-especially habeous corpus, the allowing of torture, warentless wiretapping-the list goes on. To think he might postpone elections under a false "emergency" in order to maintain his power is entirely plausible. We have to stop putting our heads in the sand...Now...what CAN we do?

Become Active!

The only thing most of us can do is RAISE ALL KINDS OF HELL! Send links to sites like this to everybody you know! Deluge your Senators and Representative with E-Mails! Sign every impeachment petition you come across to let your congress people know that you're not going to put up with it anymore! Submit letters to the editor of your local papers as often as they'll print them! My local paper will consider publishing two letters per month from an individual and I submit them on that schedule - they print about 70% of them.

Yes, Become Active Get out of the Blogsphere and Organize!

Enough preaching and whinning to the choir.  Get out of the Blogsphere and talk to people who feel powerless and get them involved.  That is the challenge.  Blogsphere is just a communications medium.  Going out into the streets, protesting, having teach-ins, running for office, helping someone like Kuccinich get on the ballot and get into the Whitehouse and lobbying or holding our elected leaders accountable, that is where the power is, not in the blosphere.  Don't blog organize!

Not gonna happen

After the 2008 election is held - and it will be held - and a new president is sworn in the following January, I will be pointing at these articles and laughing. I might be happy with the election outcome or I might be disappointed, but I will at least have this to get a chuckle over.

I hope you are right

And I think you probably are, but it is very distressing that we cannot be entirely certain that you are.

The idea of the United States becoming a dictatorship is something I have, until now, believed to be impossible. Under George Bush it actually seems like a real possibility and that is a very sad state of affairs.

So he instituted them for nothing?

The cheney-bush whitehouse is capable of any and all injustices or crimes. When it becomes apparent Ron Paul is to win the election the owners can pull the ace card and with one signature saint king dipstick can reduce this nation to what you see in Iraq. Some will not submit to global slavery.
