The head of the Army Corps of Engineers Commandant Lt. Gen. Carl Strock,is spending his time protecting George Bush, making excuses for incompetence and failure in New Orleans, explaining why the Iraq war has not impacted upon the readiness to be prepared for disaster.

the Kansas City Star reports
"Lt. Gen. Carl Strock, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, told reporters Thursday: "I do not see lack of funding as a contributing factor in this case. "
Asked whether more could have been done to prepare for the disaster, White House spokesman McClellan said: "This is a time when the whole country needs to come together to help those in the region. And that 's where our focus is. "

This "country needs to come together " message is code for a message we who are shining light on the Bush failures are getting from people who want us to "shut up " and stop pointing out WHY this unnecessary disaster and the horrible aftermath occurred.

This same shill fired Bunny Greenhouse, the army corps of engineers top contracting official who became a whistle blower, raising concerns about Halliburton contracts.

reuters reported on August 29,
"Bunny Greenhouse, the Army Corps of Engineers' top contracting official-turned whistle-blower, was removed, effective Saturday, from the senior executive service and moved into a lower-ranking job.
Earlier, in a June 3 memo, Army Corps of Engineers Commandant Lt. Gen. Carl Strock, said the move came after a staff analysis clearly showed the decision was based on Greenhouse's "unacceptable performance" and "not in retaliation for any disclosures of alleged improprieties she may have made."

How inconvenient for the Bush administration that they 've had to use the same compromised flunky for both the firing of a whistle-blower and as cover for his slashing funding for existing projects aimed at improving the levees. It 's like a defense attorney for some guilty corporation using an expert witness who only testifies for corporations. This guy has the level of credibility of a shyster lawyer 's expert witness mouthpiece. The question is, will the media see through his BS? Or will they play the echo chamber and broadcast it to cover Bush 's ass?
