The Frat Boys and Their Holocaust - Is it One Million Now?

While the Bush Administration reports the overall death toll of Iraqis since the invasion in the few tens of thousands (after all, when you’re spending half a trillion dollars to kill people, you need to show some success on paper), the Iraqi government (sic) has recently admitted that the figure is more like 150,000. This apparent concession is perhaps to avoid being cynically laughed out of the Middle East by all its inhabitants, who know things are much, much worse. Last year Lancet reported, using well-approved statistical measurements, that the median figure is more like 655,000, perhaps higher, perhaps lower. Well, now Dr. Gideon Polya, a Melbourne scientist and writer who has published some 130 works in four decades, has stated in a February 7, 2007 Countercurrents article (see: http://www.countercurrents.org/iraq-polya070207.htm ) that the true figure exceeds one million war-related deaths! To quote from this article:

“In short, as of February 2007: (a) the accrual cost has been $2.3 TRILLION; (b) there are 3.7 million Iraqi refugees; (c) the post-invasion excess deaths (avoidable deaths, deaths that did not have to happen) total 1.0 million (ONE MILLION); (d) post-invasion under-5 infant deaths total 0.6 million; (e) there were 1.7 million excess Iraqi deaths associated with the Western-imposed 1990-2003 Sanctions War; (f) there were 1.2 million under-5 year old infant deaths in the 1990-2003 Sanctions War (see: http://mwcnews.net/content/view/12261/42/ ); and (g) Coalition deaths total about 3,360. These horrifying estimates from authoritative sources are amplified and documented below.”

This war, much like Vietnam, has become, whatever the precise count, a HOLOCAUST. And we are only talking about the dead here, not the sick, traumatized, famished, malnourished and wounded. George Bush may say that it is the “evil-doers” doing most of the killing now, but that is disingenuous, for we know full well how James Steel and his crew, with tens of thousands of Latin American scalps hanging from their belts, were brought in to initiate the El Salvadoran solution, in a word, death squads as fundamental policy. And we also know full well that tens of thousands of callous, Rambo-esque mercenaries are running amok in Iraq, blowing away “bad guys”, some of them engaging in Black Ops with almost total impunity.

We also know that psychotic Christian Zionists are actually encouraging the destruction of Islam as a necessary precursor to their theocratic Millennium and the return of Jesus Christ as Conan the Avenger (try Googling “destroy Islam” and see what pops up), so we even have the needed ideological engine to drive the ongoing, relentless slaughter of Muslim peoples around the globe. This is what the War on Terror is really about beneath the surface. Shiites and Sunnis had better to wake up to the fact that they are pawns in a divide and annihilate strategy lurking in the backs of the minds of many smiling, oh so civilized Americans and Europeans, not to mention the scowling ones, who just simply blow Muslims away at the first opportunity. They are well-practiced at this, the Great White Father in Washington having decimated the American Indian this way, and the Spaniards and Portuguese, to mention just one European example, having enslaved and eviscerated the indigenous peoples of Central and South America in even worse fashion. Clint Eastwood’s old Spaghetti Western, A Fist Full of Dollars, the classic cinematic icon of the tall, blue-eyed gringo cleverly playing one side off against the other, ought to be rented and absorbed by leaders in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan, to name a few Islamic countries. You are all on the Fundamentalist Christian-Jihadist hit list. At least Clint Eastwood’s character had some moral scruples, such as sparing the women and children. These people do not. Total conflagration in the Middle East and beyond is their not too subtle goal, the battle field for their lunatic Armageddon.

Dr. Polya’s work creates a new imperative on the cusp of Nancy Pelosi’s current drive to promote yet another massive annual funding of this ongoing holocaust, for it is Bush’s war itself that is driving the slaughter and deliberate polarization, not the other way around. The pabulum that Congress should continue to “support the troops” is specious beyond belief. It is like a hypothetical, oppositional Reichstag saying to Hitler, “Well, we are opposed to your invasion of Russia, but here are another one hundred thousand tons of gold bullion to protect the troops from harm’s way by financing the invasion for another eighteen months.” Nothing inane about that argument, is there? Didn’t Faustus learn the hard way about making deals with Mephistopheles?

This also displays the incredible narcissism of Pelosi and many so-called progressive Democrats. Their sympathies lie with American troops, period, as if the Iraqi people are merely colorful background or cartoon characters. Iraqis need the bayonet pulled out of their collective gut immediately, not in eighteen months. Pelosi's and others’ lack of compassion is astounding, their subservience to the polarizing destructiveness of jingoisim and blind nationalism unnerving. Buy this war, Speaker Pelosi, and you are the primary stock-holder. As the mounds of skulls heighten in Iraq and beyond, and the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers run red with blood, should we call you Pol Pot Pelosi?

 It is as if at a great university, a single fraternity, let’s call it Sigma Alpha Neocon, decided to burn and pillage a third of the other fraternities, shooting and torturing all their members, and in the process setting the entire university on fire. Would the responsible adults, the university administrators, then turn around and say, “This is awful, but we are all Sigma Alpha Neocon alumni first and foremost, so instead of banning and jailing ‘the Bros’ responsible and putting out the fire, we will sing fraternity songs and buy them more beer.” Congratulations, you will have destroyed the university.
