DEMOCRAT CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE DENIES EXISTENCE OF INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE JOHN MURPHY
CHESTER COUNTY, PA -- Yes, Lois there really is an independent candidate for House of Representatives in the 16th Congressional District. When asked by KYW-TV to explain, in its voters' guide, how she is different than her opponents, Lois Herr tried unsuccessfully to differentiate herself from the Republican but when it came to the independent candidate John Murphy, she decided that since the independent candidate actually represented what 65% of the American people wanted in a congressional candidate, there was no way she could compare herself to John Murphy. Ms. Herr decided instead to employ the psychological defense mechanism commonly referred to as "denial". Ms. Herr has refused to admit that John Murphy exists!
The John Murphy campaign was not surprised by this admission since in recent newspaper interviews she refers only to "my opponent, Joe Pitts". "As if to outdo herself in hubris and rudeness, when the Rotary Club held a debate recently and refused to invite me, she actually participated in the event instead of boycotting it and protesting that all candidates on the ballot should be included in the debate", commented John Murphy.
"There was a time in American politics when candidates treated one another with respect. There was a time in American politics when candidates believed in fair play. There was a time when American politicians would have said 'I disagree with what you have to say but will I defend to my death your right to say it'. The Democrat as well as her Republican counterpart has lost touch with American values and traditions", concluded John Murphy the independent candidate for Congress in the 16th Congressional District.
In a recent candidates' forum where John Murphy accused both the Democratic and Republican candidates of being owned by the same corporate interests, Ms. Herr tried to separate herself from the Republican by saying that she is less corrupt than the Republican because she accepts less money from the special interests than Joe Pitts. "Of course that's very much like one pregnant woman saying she is less pregnant than another or that Strom Thurmond is less dead than Richard Nixon. You can't be a little bit pregnant, a little bit dead or little bit corrupt. Corruption begins with the recipient not the donor", commented John Murphy.
"There is no significant difference between the Republican and Democratic candidates. Both support the World Trade Organization which puts short-term corporate profit before the interests of the American people and both support the 'Bush Doctrine' which says that an entire nation can be held responsible for a terrorist act committed by one of its citizens. It was the Bush Doctrine that led to the illegal invasion of Iraq", added John Murphy.
"Both candidates support the same neoliberal economic philosophy which demands that the United States dominate the Middle East militarily and economically. The Republican follows the strategy of the PNAC (Project for a New American Century) and the Democrat follows the strategy of the PPI (Progressive Policy Institute). The Republicans and Democrats are exactly the same strategically and differ only tactically. They both wish to build an empire and will sacrifice anything, including the Bill of Rights and habeas corpus, to build it. They simply differ on how it should be managed. I am against empire building and in favor of the return of our civil liberties", concluded John Murphy the independent candidate for House of Representatives in the 16th Congressional District.
