RNC "Swiftboats" Kucinich

Dear Friend of Dennis,

What do they have to hide? The National Republican Party has launched a desperate, last minute "swiftboat" type smear attack against Congressman Dennis Kucinich who is in line to chair an key investigate subcommittee of the House of Representatives..

The Republican Party's official website, www.gop.com attacks Kucinich in machine gun style, about FIFTY TIMES, for his opposition to the Bush agenda including, the War in Iraq, the Patriot Act, and National Missile "Defense". Everyone knows Kucinich was right, and Bush was wrong, on each and every contested issue relating to national security. (Yesterday they gave Nancy Pelosi similar treatment.)

Why then, with the Republicans on the verge of losing control of both the House and the Senate, would they train such a lengthy, hysterical and vicious attack on Kucinich?

The answer is obvious: Kucinich is in line to chair the Government Oversight subcommittee on International Relations, National Security and Emerging Threats, which will bring out the truth about each and every Administration lie which led us into war, into fear, into a roll back of our civil liberties. Under his chairmanship, people in Washington will at last be held accountable for their misdeeds. The truth will come out about 911, the war in Iraq and how the Administration's policies and actions have directly put America in more danger.

Now is the time for us to stand up to the GOP smear machine. Now is the time to stand up for Dennis Kucinich, not only because he has stood up for us, but because his honesty, and integrity is needed in Washington for security which comes through peace and prosperity.

He has shown real leadership for the Democratic Party. Don't let the Republicans get away with this rotten, mean-spirited attack on an honest Congressman who fights for the people and works for peace. Give Dennis Kucinich the ability to respond NOW. Send your contribution for $50. $100, $500 or more to Re-Elect Kucinich.

As Chairman of the Cuyahoga Democratic Party of Ohio, one of the largest Democratic organizations in the nation, I say it is time to tell the Republican party that their "swiftboating" days are over. They swiftboated John Kerry, They did it to Max Cleland. This gang even attacked one of their own, John McCain! Help Dennis get the gavel to give the GOP the boot.

Sincerely,

Jimmy DiMora,
Chairman, Cuyahoga Democratic Party.

My name it means nothing, my age it means less. My deeds of activism are mine to enjoy and share as I feel necesary, not as some clown in a small forum's administration thinks I must..This place gets worse each and every visit.

I must be naieve

I have always thought that the way to expose lies was to expose lies. The Democrats have never responded to these sort of tactics in any meaningful way when they simply should make the rounds of the talk shows, place ads in the local media and speak with one voice loudly and clearly telling the truth. Why they do not do this is a mystery to me. Please do not expect me to contribute to a party that has failed in its duty for almost six years now.

David,

You are exactly right. I HOPE. I HOPE. I HOPE the Democrats win a majority in the House. If the Democrats are smart as I see it, they will keep right on doing what they have been doing the past two months. If they begin running on "Impeach Bush Now," the American independent voters simply will not buy in to that. The average voter listens to less than fifteen minutes of news on any given day, and that news is nothing more than corporate swill. The have no ideas of the seriousness of the crimes the Bush Administration have committed. With the war on Iraq, the economy and moral issues driving all the Republicans lower and lower, the last thing the Democrats need is a change of focus during these last two weeks. I, too, am for impeaching Bush but only if the crimes can be proven in a some court of law; but that is putting the cart way out ahead of the horse. One thing at a time, first things first, word upon word, line upon line. The first order of business is getting Democrats as chair persons of the Congressional Committees.

The reason I am adamantly for men like Nelson in Nebraska and would even vote for Zell Miller if he were running is that it is ultimately important that the Democrats get a majority in the Senate and House, especially the House. Anything or anyone who tries to divert our attention from winning the House with Impeach Bush or any other distractions are really out of lunch. Bush will never be impeached if the men and women like Kucinich are not chairman of the committees. The power to subpoena is the power to bring the broken laws to the headlines no matter what the corporations decide. I do not really care if Bush is ever punished. I want to see him impeached because I feel we need to let the next presidents know if you break laws which result in a half million deaths, and destroy a city of your own southern constituency, you will be impeached. I do not have time for revenge. It is too destructive what little life I have left.

Thank you again for the excellent article.

Phil.

PS. BTW, "I HOPE" is the title of another good song on Dixie Chicks new album. It is my favorite next to "NOT READY TO MAKE NICE."
