Lincoln Chafee Calls Bush Worst President in History by David Swanson Page 1 of 1 page(s) |
|
|
Chafee served in the U.S. Senate from 1999 to 2006 and credits his defeat in 2006 - as do most analysts - to his membership in the party of Bush and Cheney. In 2003 Chafee was the only Republican senator to vote against authorization to attack Iraq. Chafee and John McCain had been the only two Republican senators to vote against the first round of Bush tax cuts.
While Chafee is supporting Barack Obama for president, he said on Tuesday that the Democrats as well as the Republicans have moved too far to the right. Without any apparent bitterness, Chafee remarked that while voters got a new Senate and House in 2006, they didn't get any changes in policies out of it.
Chafee made his remarks on a radio show I hosted, the audio of which can be found at

We Voted - Nothing Changed - 2006
Agree with Chafee. That's been our Republic. We vote, the elite and corporate interests get represented. It amazes me how those in Congress can defend their positions - nothing of substance has changed since 2006. And with all the hoopla - not thinking much more will change in 2008... The revolution needs to keep growing from the bottom up. The election is just a pre-arranged distraction. by August Adams (11 articles, 0 quicklinks, 1 diaries, 585 comments [12 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 9:34:19 PM

Now Chafee is calling for Bu$h's impeachment,
where was he when his voice really mattered? He was duped into the Bu$h cabal from the beginning, and only realizes the nature of the true agenda after the monkey Supreme Court installed them. He has known Buckshot Dick all his political career and is familiar with the Bu$h family history of political hacks. He knows the republican party with its claims to be the "Family Values-Less Government & Spending" party has always been a party of closet homosexuals, adulterous & wife swapping, alcoholics and substance abusers, that through deregulation of government oversight committees perpetrates impeachable, Treasonous and war criminal offenses while profiting immensely from their illegal pre-emptive Wars Of Terror around the world. It's true that the US has experienced the worst 3 recent republican presidents, are both Bu$h Jr. & Sr. followed by Ronald Reagan, yet he remained a loyal hypocrite through it all. by Stanimal (2 articles, 228 quicklinks, 38 diaries, 1259 comments [235 recommended, 2 rejected]) on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:19:18 PM

I saw Lincoln Chafee on Book TV
He seems to have come clean on what he did as Senator and what he didn't, which would have been what Jim Jeffords did. So now that he sees the light and is working for Obama, might it not be appropriate for him to be the Vice Presidential candidate? Others have suggested Jim Webb. One of their similiarities is party changing. That might not be as uncommon as we once thought. Webb plays an important role in the Senate, I think. But I surmise that MSM will start touting John Edwards, now that he supports Obama. So maybe the better thing to do is back off of that guessing game. Pakistan seems to be in turmoil. A barrel of oil is still out of sight. John McCain is turning into an instant economist. Maybe Barack Obama will just have to take care of finding his own vice-president. And I can go back to worrying about the war and the economy. by Margaret Bassett (45 articles, 2910 quicklinks, 43 diaries, 1853 comments [99 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 11:02:05 PM

Where's the audio link?
I'd like to hear it, but I can't actually find it. It would have been nice if it were in the article itself. by Avedon Carol (0 articles, 0 quicklinks, 0 diaries, 1 comments) on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 6:57:14 AM
