Crucial Week for Impeachment

Tell A Friend

Something very important happened in Congress on Thursday. After 7 years of cowering in fear of every dictatorial demand from Bush and Cheney, House Democrats finally rose up and said NO.

First, House Democrats refused to give immunity to the telecom giants for illegally wiretapping the calls and emails of every American - despite two Bush press conference hissyfits and endless Corporate Media lies.

Second, House Democrats declared Harriet Miers and Josh Bolten to be in contempt of Congress for rejecting subpoenas to testify about the U.S. Attorney scandal, despite an faux-angry walkout by Republicans. Watch Rep. Robert Wexler's excellent floor speech:
http://www.wexlerforcongress.com/multimedia.asp?ItemID=238

Could this be the start of holding George Bush and Dick Cheney accountable for their innumerable High Crimes?

The main problem we face is time. Since this is an election year, Congress will stop legislating and start campaigning full-time in May. Since impeachment hearings take time, those hearings must begin now.

Thanks to your emails and calls, 18 Democrats support Rep. Robert Wexler's call for Cheney impeachment hearings:
http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/cheney
But that's not enough - we need 100 Democrats to support Wexler in order to force Speaker Pelosi to hold these hearings.

This week, every Member of Congress will be home working at their District Offices and meeting with the voters who elect them. That's us.

So let's send them a loud and clear message: Start Impeachment Hearings for Dick Cheney Now.

One great way to send that message is through "Honk to Impeach" actions at the District Offices of your Representative. These actions are fun and passing cars love it. It just takes 2-3 brave people to have a successful 1-hour event.

Here's a national map with ongoing honk-a-thons:
http://www.communitywalk.com/impeach
If you don't see one near you, call your bravest friends and pick the date(s), time, and contact info. Find District Offices by searching for your Representative here:

Then create a map login and click "add a marker."

Since it's Washington's Birthday, we've created a special flyer you can print and hand out called WWWD: What Would Washington Do?

This could be our last chance so let's hit the streets!

This week also marked the Senate Straw Poll in Maine showing an Impeachment Candidate, Laurie Dobson, coming in first in the poll by a 54% margin. Although this maddened the pollsters, the results are viewable at newsofmaine.blogspot.com.

Dont Hold Your Breath

While there are a few glimmers of righteous light emitting from areas around the country and a few corners of Washington, I regret to inform those given over completely to hope for a proper impeachment and criminal proceeding against this overtly criminal administration to not crow so loudly about them. My observations since the elections of 2006 has followed a distinct pattern of disappointment. The democratic leadership (AKA DLC lapdogs) has never had an intention of impeachment and the last year and a half has shown this to be true. While I applaud the few who have the integrity to call for impeachment I cannnot have any faith in that that will actually occur any time soon. Maybe in twenty years or so....or maybe in fifty when the truth comes out about the Republican/Fascist faction who were the actual masterminds behind the WTC.

I See Change

I feel something in the air. I sense a complete rejection of the current administrtion by the people. I'm not confident it's enough though. Democrats need to get serious. You can't "nice" these people. They don't understand words like "Honor" or "Truth". These neo-cons have to be whipped like dogs. It's the only thing they understand. I don't believe the Democrats have it in them. The people are demanding that it be done. Could this be the end of both parties? I pray to God (If there is one). If the Democrats plan to stay, they had better get serious. Americans hate spineless people(at least this one).

Impeach

Bush and Cheney both have threatened each and every one of us with an event worse than 9-11, Congress included. Isn't that enough? Do we have to wait for something more to happen? Impeach-Indict-Imprison Now

They didn't stand up, they ran out of town,

Congressional Democrats have proven over and over they are spineless and cowardly. They aren't going to stand up to Bush-Chaney let alone impeach them. It is we the people that have to stand up if the war criminals are to be vanquished. The effective way is to register working class voters from now until November then turning them out to say bye bye to the party that stole our country 8 years ago. Wasting time and money urging impeachment is not just wrong it's political vanity from the "infantile left". Calling yourself a progressive doesn't make you one. What next, grand strategist, a write-in campaign for Dennis, Ron, Cynthia, or some other. Let's kill 2 birds with one stone: The Dream Ticket for the politically impaired: Ralph Nader and Joe Lieberman. Call it the Treason Party.

Freedom's light flickers back to life

When the Democrats let the wire taps end I finally think they understand why they were elected to office. Could this mean America is returning to a constitutional form of government. We can only wait and see.

The Next 11 Days

You can bet that the extreme right wingnut operation will go into action. Bush-believing constituents will be angry as hornets at their representatives. I've written to tell my Democratic representatives I support them. They need to hear from all of us if we are to hope for them continuing to take a stand. Campaign donations with notes attached would help even more.

The Check is in the Mail says Bush.

I appreciate your article David, and I need to weigh in to let you know that time is on our side. In fact the need of contributions for Bush's impeachment are being mailed out in May are they not? They just signed a financial plan to keep the economy from going into recession. My plan is that we solicit the use of those funds to make sure we don't go into a recession and have people contribute the money toward Impeaching Bush and Cheney. If I get a check it is going to you, I promise.

Here is my latest to Congressman Conyers:

Dear Congressman Conyers,
I might want to warn you that your stalling on Impeachment because of ideas that you fear Bush; will turn into nothing compared when the people turn on you. Your stand with Obama and his anti impeachment is pure Racism; before protecting the Constitution. Your choice to gain the election of Obama instead of seeking justice to Bush War Crimes is quite disgraceful.  My dissatisfaction is explained in the following to include an article I wrote for you entitled "Conyers Dilemna"
Attached is  The American Photo Album I hope you will "cherish" it for years to come. You really look at it and see what you support. If you don't support Impeachment then you haven't really seen racial discrimination yet Congressman.
It should be a reminder to all Americans our unkempt resolve in knowing when we should Impeach vs. past Impeachment attempts that have been nothing in comparison to the murder of the innocent, that you advocate by your stalling twisted demented thinking.
David I will send you The American Photo Album. Afterall they are your pictures. Anyone else who wants a copy send me an email so I can attach to you.

They don't have to be Democrats

do they? Aren't there any Republicans out there who are outraged by this administration's actions, who feel disgraced and betrayed by all the lies and machinations?
