David Sirota: Only One Thing Left to Conclude: The Media Want the War by David Sirota Page 1 of 1 page(s) |

Washington Post began trying to intimidate Democratic politicians and prevent them from standing up to voice opposition to the war. I figured that was rock bottom, but in recent days, we've seen that yes, the braindead insulated elitists in the Beltway media have found an even lower road to take than even this.
In the last 48 hours, we've seen the "objective" mainstream media now openly attacking people who oppose the Iraq War. Mind you, these aren't the editorialists or the opinion pundits, these are the people who are supposed to be telling the objective truth - and instead they are literally attacking war critics. I
n the last 48 hours, we've seen the "objective" mainstream media now openly attacking people who oppose the Iraq War. Mind you, these aren't the editorialists or the opinion pundits, these are the people who are supposed to be telling the objective truth - and instead they are literally attacking war critics.
Take MSNBC's Nora O'Donnell. In an interview with former FBI agent Colleen Rowley (now a candidate for Congress), O'Donnell claimed that Rowley "had decided to align [herself]with anti-war extremists" because Rowley visited Cindy Sheehan's supporters in Crawford. Or, take the Washington Post's Mike Allen. He said those who oppose the war are "PETA, hippies, Naderites" - again, a blatant effort to paint those who oppose the war as fringe, even though polls show a majority of Americans oppose the war.
These nauseating examples need to be put into a context. They follow the media's open pushing of the Iraq War before the invasion and refusal to question what they knew were pre-war lies. They also come as polls show Americans oppose the war, want an exit strategy, and believe the entire mess is endangering U.S. national security. And they come even as Iraq War veterans themselves say they understand that criticism of the war is not criticism of U.S. troops.
All of that should lead any honest person to conclude one thing: other than a few truth-telling reporters, the Beltway media - spurred on by the elitist, bipartisan foreign policy establishment that doesn't want to admit it was wrong - actually wants the war to continue, no matter how many American casualties mount, no matter what the ramifications for U.S. national security, no matter what the consequencs for our country over the long-term.
I'm not sure what's next from the media - although we've already gotten a taste. Some local television stations are actually refusing to air anti-war groups' ads, moving this media problem from one of gross dishonesty, into one of actually gagging people and infringing upon the First Amendment. Will it ever end? Stay tuned, I guess.

Whats New?
Whoever did not realize this must be wearing hoods! This is nothing new and in fact points directly to the JEW Organization that controls the Media in America. Now I am not against Jews or want to attack them as a religion, but it is clear they hold the power in America's Media. I know lots of good Jews and Mormons and Catholics and so on, to name one Dr. Daniel Ellisberg who released the Pentagon Papers during the Nixon Watergate Scandal. He helped to end a lying War. Isn't that what religion is suppose to do? Now if I should carry on and think all Jews are like Dr. Ellisburg I would certainly be wrong. We know they are not like him and they are the ones in power and they are behind this War. As the article stated Do they want War? Sure looks like it. Now that Sharon has backed out of Gaza lets not think he is doing wrong. He is making the correct step. Now I ask you to compare this action with Bush! Is he pulling out of Iraq? No! An entirely different picture. Why can't Bush follow Sharons example? Why can't he assure Iraqis that Kurds are not taking over thier country, that America is not trying to control their oil wealth, and they have a right to form their own type of government. Does Abbas have control over all the Palestinians? Assuredly no! The same with Sharon...does he have control of stopping Jews in committing terror? Certainly no! But they can lead by example, and show proof that they are as concerned with other peoples and their religions as well as their own. Its a Media Jew thing in America and perhaps not so now in Israel. American Republican and supporters are hell bent on protecting their ideas of defense and using force. If they withdraw they will be weak he says! Does Sharon say this? Does he use his dead soldiers lives and the dead from terrorists to justify a continued war posture? No Sharon had the courage the wisdom and the tenacity to do the right thing. I congratulate him and support his efforts in withdrawing. He has come to light. Jews in Israel should support him and be happy they have gained new life and hope now in Israel and Palestine. But Mr. Bush on the contrary is displaying American weakness now, and by withdrawing would show our strength. Bush is afraid and afraid to face it. They are afraid and we see what they feel. How does Ariel Sharon show such courage and stength now? We need to help them overcome their fear, and stop relying on the past wreckless avenues our fore fathers always clung to. Fight might with might is not the answer. It has not solved our woes! It brings no honor to dead soldiers. If we honor our troops and our slain victims we should stand against violence without fear of attack. When people see we have courage to not use arms, they too will acknowledge that War is no solution. The enemy wants what we want... peace, and no one invading their home country. If we do not think as real humans instead of like politicians and statistic poll counters, we will follow destiny to its conscription who started it, and whose fault is it, never ending debate of who is right. Two guns slingers are never right. The guy without the gun is the good guy period. Stop the War, stop the attacks, apology is strength, and face the facts that we are in this world together, so lets use words to exercise the real freedoms, not guns and bombs.
