There's lots of talk going on about nuclear armageddon. Israeli pilots are training to nuke Iran's nuclear facilities, Bush attacks the Iranian consulate in northern Iraq, Syria is being demonized again. Russia and China are allied with Iran, will they stand by, let Iran be nuked, and not retaliate with nuclear weapons against Israel or the USA?
Scary times. Bush is barreling ahead despite huge opposition, even from within his own party. Pat Robertson claims that God told him there would be a massive attack against America this year. It seems like a good time to re-publish a piece I wrote a while ago, looking at the Christofascist ideology which allows and encourages suicidal behavior on the part of the man with his finger on the button.
The Rapture Cult- Path of Death
Psalm 16:11 You have made known to me the path of life.
Tens of millions of Americans have read "The Late Great Planet Earth" by Hal Lindsay, and tens of millions more are avid fans of the "Left Behind" series by LaHaye and Jenkins. These science fiction books claim to give a true interpretation of Bible prophecy. They preach the rapture cult, a heretical view (so labeled by the Presbyterian Church) which says that believers will be "called out" and "meet Jesus in the clouds" while the rest of us are to be "left behind" to suffer and perish in the tribulation.
This is the path of death. The rapture cultists have psychically abandoned planet earth and all responsibility for its fate. They support George Bush and his rapid destruction of the biosphere, thinking that this will hasten their being "called away" by the returning Christ. They suspend conscience and discernment, believing the false prophets who tell them that Bush was chosen by God to lead America and that his lying murderous ways should be overlooked.
George Bush serves the corporate beast, and all his policies are designed to enrich those who profit from its plunder. Bush acts as CEO for the beast, whose greed is destroying the biosphere. The corporate beast has stolen "personhood" in America from human beings through a legal fiction, which entitles corporations to the rights of persons, without any of the responsibility and accountability of human beings. In fact, the only goal to which corporations are legally bound is to make profits for their stockholders.
The rapture cultists become "little Eichmans", working for the beast, buying its products, upholding its reign, and its exploitation and slaughter of indigenous peoples the world over. They worship success, not God, and are lulled by the false prophets into believing that they will go to heaven if only they hate homosexuals, pro-abortion people, and Muslims. They are encouraged to extend this hatred to "liberals", "progressives", "tree-huggers", and indeed, to all of us who are fighting to preserve life on planet earth.
The false prophets of the rapture cult, people like Pat Robertson, are predicted in Revelation, and serve the corporate beast:
Revelation 19:20 ..the false prophet. performed the miraculous signs on (the beast's) behalf. With these signs he deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image.
We who yearn for sanity, for peace, for cooperation among nations, for ecological common sense, for justice, for God's kingdom on earth,- we are denied our interpretation of the Bible, or we are turned off to the Bible altogether, by the pious rulers who insist that only the false prophets know God's intentions. They are like the false Jews in the days of Jesus, to whom He said: Matthew 23:13
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. "
The rapture cultists are allowing the beast, aided by the dragon- the military machine- to pollute, plunder and destroy the biosphere. Theirs is the path of death. The Bible tells us to choose life.
Deut 30: 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So CHOOSE LIFE in order that you may live, you and your descendants.

I also enjoyed reading your story, its sad when I think of all the knowledge we have stored that's going to waste.
Yet someone like Bush, takes advantage of corporate greed and use it for the destruction of lives and our lands.
As I always preach its men like George Bush that have been the root of all troubles we face in the Middle East today.
Even if Bush's serge in troops in Iraq could possibly work out. He has inflicted the damage all ready for the next generation of hate and many generations of Arabs to come.
Controlling Iraq will not solve a thing, it wasn't part of the equation to start with, terrorist thrives in the Middle East and other parts of Europe.
We can't possibly police all of Europe trying to control angry terrorist. Its time we address the real issues, I'm not asking anyone to act cowardly by any means. We need to stop babying Israel and Arab hatred and allow them to solve there own issues. We need to stop involving ourselves in conflicts between two or more Arab cultures and start living in what is reality.
The Bush's are not great biblical prophecy that will bring new world order, its not allowed, we are a free nation governed by better than the likes of Bush's.

While I agree with your opposition to Bush, I find your use of religion and BIBLE prophecy appalling. Not only do you believe in the BIBLE, and therefore presumedly God, but you show the same kind of belief in BIBLE prophecy as the rapture cultists you criticize, equating mythological beasts in Revelation with various contemporary persons, organizations, classes, etc.
In the first place, you have not a shred of evidence that there is a God beyond the Universe Who created it. The widespread argument that there has to be a God because the Universe has to have a cause and only God can provide that cause fails as a proof because, if everything must have a cause, God would need a Super God to cause Him or Her and the Super God would need a Super, Super God Who would need a Super, Super, Super... No matter how far you regress towards infinity, your have not reached a solution to how the Universe was caused.
If your belief in God is based on faith, then if you can believe things on faith, without reason, then why not believe in Naziism, or Al Quaida, or Jim Jones, etc. If you make a "leap of faith," it is a matter of chance where your leap takes you and who knows what evil cult you will land on.
I find it appalling that you with a doctorate and an M.D. in psychiatry not only resorts to religion as a rationale for your opposition to Bush but you even resort to the FUNDAMENTALIST RELIGION in the same Bible prophecy that the rapture cultists depend on.

Robert Halfhill, for your info, I do not have any religious beliefs from the bible or belong to any religious groups.
I do have my own belief that there is a higher power. I could careless what your opinions are on my religious beliefs.
Bush has endowed his legacy from speech's that he listens to his higher power bringing spiritual incitement from many that follow religious beliefs to support him.
Bush however leads with a bible in one hand and creates death and destruction with his other hand is merely the point.

I am a Christian who believes in the rapture and I'm not in any cult. Nor do I know anyone that is in one. Where exactly do these people practice all this craziness? I'm just not familiar with them at all!

They likely do it in your community. It was several years ago that I found out twenty miles south of where I live a group worships the devil and to my east about eight miles there is a NeoNazi group. This is a fairly small community of two hundred and eighty thousand people.
It is also known that some Michigan Militia live here and in the surrounding area's. I found all this out after Timothy McVeigh had bombed the Oklahoma City Federal Building.
At the time McVeigh had payed a visit to an ALON-ON club here were I live. The club would meet in an old school building, down the hall they held AA (alcoholic anonymous) I was court ordered for a drinking well driving charge to attend AA.
After the bombing took place it took me a well to place McVeigh face, but I remember him coming down a hallway. McVeigh was wearing military fatigues about four paces as if he were leading in front of two others in military camouflaged uniforms. With a military rhythm that I've never seen practiced they came down the hallway. I though they were trouble and keep a distance from them. They had a serous look on their faces as if they were on a mission.
Little did I know that they were so dangerous.
I have been also told that there is a group living near by that believe in Communism and local gov. has harassed them from time to time for weapons violations.
If McVeigh had not passed through here, id probably never found out about any of these groups, it makes me wonder what else gets practiced in this area. I though stuff like that only happened in California and in wilderness area's.

Fred F, the soundness of my position on religion does not depend on whether you could or couldn't care less about my views on your religious beliefs. It depends on the validity of the reasons I gave for my position.
Incidentally, your statement that you "could care less" is a grammatical error because it shows an error in logic. The only way you COULDN'T care less is if the amount you cared was zero. If you COULD care less, that can only be because the amount of your caring can be lessened, which means that it is greater than zero.
But grammatical quibles aside, the critique of your belief in "a higher power" is the same as my critique of a belief in God. You have not a shred of evidence for the existence of this "higher power," and if your belief in this higher power is based on faith instead of reason, you are without any means of evaluating the beliefs you are landing on. You are jumping out at random and you are far more likely to land on something like Nazism, or Al Quaida or Jim Jones that something benign or even harmless by accident.

A statement with no evidence either for or against it does not have a 50% probability of being true, The burden of proof is on the person who aserts the hypothesis.
For example, Europeans before the Age of Exploration had many beliefss about the legendary beast that lived in unexplored parts of the world -- dragons, unicorns and gryphons or winged lions. Since they were reputed to exist in lands the Europeans had not explored, there was ipso factor no evidence either for or against their existence. Europeans found many wonderful and unexpected things as they explored the rest of the world. But not one of the legendary beasts that they believed existed turned out to actually exist.
An example of the dirrerence between making negative and positive statements can be illustrated if you are asked to guess what a certain number is when you have no clue about what the number is. If you guess the number is not three, there are an infinite number of other numbers that would make your guess right. On the other hand, if you say the number IS three, there are an infinite number of numbers that could make your guess wrong.

Christianity is a Desert Dwellers cultural survival ideology.
Being raised as a member of this dominant Blood cannibal cult, this writer would every day before school began, eat the body and drink the blood, of the cannibal cult kid from the Desert.
The priest would turn the bread and wine into the body and blood, of Christ. Symbolic magic.
Human predation is a constant in a resource starved environment, with many feeders vying for these limited resources, such as is found in the Desert.
Our technology has advanced beyond the need to employ cannibalism for survival, yet our Dominant classes are stuck in a form of "Animal Primitivism, and feel the need to genocide the human race.
For those who have seen the video clip of a Bob cat who kills a rattlesnake in the Desert, this is one aspect of animal behavior that is also part of human predator behavior.
This component is what is producing the threat to us that we face from nuclear weapons.
The reason the Bob cat killed the rattlesnake is because they both share the same resource starved base of the Desert.
The Bob cat risks his life to kill the Rattlesnake so as to reduce feeding pressure on the resource scarce environment.
It is literally a matter of life or death for both animals.
When the nuclear age arrived, it became possible to exterminate the mass of humanity with nuclear weapons. The decision was made to do that exact thing; Exterminate the mass of humanity with nuclear weapons.
If we look into the resource starved Desert environment, we can find the answer to why it is necessary to exterminate the mass of humanity.
It is similiar as the Bob cat and Rattlesnake; we share the eco-system with other human feeders, and present a source of competition and conflict over access to the resource base.
The primitive Mind of the Bob cat knows of no other solution than to destroy other feeders, to sustain ones own life. If the Bob cat does not do this, the food for it's survival, may be eaten causing the Bob cat to perish.
As humans have much greater Mind power than a Bob cat, we produce much more elaborate survival mechanisms.
Nuclear weapons are considered by the human predator classes as a necessity for their survival.
At the same time that nuclear weapons were being devised, the technical ability to tap into unlimited heat and electrical energy arose.
The human predator classes have blocked all development into this area of technology.
The Dominant, Animal primitive behavior has produced the plan to immolate the mass of the human race.
This is why we have been subject to a nearly 60 year intervention into our world by certain unknown higher level powers.
The decision to exterminate humanity with nuclear weapons has never been revoked: We are still scheduled to all be turned into nuclear waste, do to the "Animal Primitivism" of our dominant classes.
This is why the secrecy continues concerning the presence of "ET."
The technology of abundance, unlimited abundance, with a full plate for all and no degradation of the environment, is near.
If the "ET" continue to block the launch of the nuclear missiles that have our name on them, we will end resource deprivation as a mechanism of war, forever.
Christianity entered Europe when the people of that time where already cannibals. This may explain why it became so popular. The cult passes on survival mechanisms that arise from a harsh environment.
As for the genocidal Christian behavior patterns, that time has ended.
What will speed the end of our nuclear war fighting genocidal cannibal elite as a mis-ruling class, is the knowledge that they have already launched nuclear weapons on humanity.
The "ET" have been placing software blocks into their missile control facilities. We are truly; "the Living Dead."
We continue to exist in spite of our nuclear armed genocidal elite, who have pulled the nuclear "Trigger" on us.

Thanks for all your articles. I can readily see that we agree about the religious delusion that they can create a time table for their hypothetical escape from this world. Unfortunately, this also means that they do very little to help correct the wrong and evil of our shared world. They have tuned out and turned off. Their do nothingness also does much harm since they are merely waiting for the "bail out" after helping light the fuse of global war.
