Politicial abuses of psychiatry Part II- am I paranoid?

by Carol Wolman     Page 1 of 2 page(s)

Tell A Friend

"Paranoia is an excessive anxiety or fear concerning one's own well-being which is considered irrational and excessive, perhaps to the point of being a psychosis. This typically includes persecutory beliefs concerning a likely threat, or a belief in a conspiracy theory." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paranoia

"Reality is a thin line between denial and paranoia." -- Author unknown, but often quoted by the 9/11 truth movement.
www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/

I confess to enormous anxiety about my well-being and the well-being of my children and grandchildren.

I feel threatened by the Military Commissions Act and the accompanying news that Halliburton is building concentration camps.

I worry about global warming and nuclear proliferation. I worry about the disappearance of species and of wild habitat, the cutting of the rainforest and ocean pollution.

I worry about the fall of the dollar and the ballooning of the national debt.

I worry about the corruption of Congress and stupefaction of "we the people".

I feel threatened by the knowledge that Bush is reading my emails and listening to my phone calls.

And yes, I believe there was a conspiracy of US government officials behind 9-11:

Including George W. Bush, who wasn't surprised.

Including his brother Marvin Bush:
"Marvin Bush was a principal in a company which provided security for the WTC ... On the weekend of 9/8, 9/9 there was a 'power down' condition in WTC tower 2, the south tower. This power down condition meant there was no electrical supply for approx 36 hrs from floor 50 up... "Of course without power there were no security cameras, no security locks on doors and many, many 'engineers' coming in and out of the tower."
www.whatreallyhappened.com/911security.html

Including Donald Rumsfeld, who several months prior made sure that it was his finger on the SAC scrambling button in case of hijacked airplanes.
"Donald Rumsfeld was responsible for issuing USAF intercept orders, but he was 'out of the loop' throughout the 9/11 attacks."www.whatreallyhappened.com/rumsfeld911.html

Including Dick Cheney:
Dick Cheney was the acting Commander in Chief on 9/11. ... On 9/11 Cheney oversaw multiple war games and terror drills, including several exercises of NORAD ...
www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/011805_simplify_case.shtml

Am I paranoid? Or am I facing a terrible reality? Are those who accuse me of paranoia actually in denial themselves? Are they using psychiatric terminology to call me crazy and discount what I am saying, so they don't have to take me seriously?

This is a crucial question for all of us. If my fears and anxieties are reality-based, then we need to face the fact that Bush et al have a well-thought out, long-term plan to plunder our country and enslave our people. We have to face the fact that they staged a false-flag operation- 9-11- to terrorize us into accepting their phony "war on terror", their illegal invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, and all the rest.

If what I believe is true, then Bush is sending our young people to die in Iraq for the sole purpose of consolidating his own power against "we the people". They are dying so that Carlyle and Halliburton can drain our treasury with sweetheart contracts abroad and at home, in the name of "bringing democracy to the Middle East", and "homeland security". Our troops are dying, not to defend our country or to spread a better way of life, but to help Bush and Cheney achieve their personal goals of power and wealth.

I am not alone in my beliefs:

Paranoia Has Served Me Well

I will admit to being paranoid and it has served me well. In my youth I just knew my brothers and sisters were out to do me serious harm and I was right. In college I knew some of my instructors did not like me. I was considered sarcastic and reactionary. I was. On 9/11 I knew Dick Cheney was involved. And now I feel my government wants to marginalize me and countless others. I was right too, Katrina spoke volumes about how the people in charge feel about most of us. Sometimes no proof is visible, but that does not make it go away. Paranoia has served me well.

For a tyrant buster call the grand Shia Bush and his followers the Shia Bushshiites. The old words of carnage goes believe half of what you see and only half of what you see.
Paranoid no, living in disbelief yes
Sorry, I'm just not paranoid, seeing this world unravel don't surprise me anymore. Just no more reasons to get goose bumps, I guess.

To Avoid "Paranoia"

To avoid the claim of being paranoid, it is imperative to provide irrefutable facts. Provide factual evidence up front and center, not hyperbole, not innuendo, and not specious claims.

To that end, I must disagree with one of your claims:

"Imploded by Silverstein"

Whether or not Larry Silverstein was personally involved in the plot is unsubstantiated -- it cannot be proven beyond a reasonable doubt at this juncture. He probably had prior knowledge, and thus was involved.

However, the claim made by 90% of the "truth movement" that Silverstein said "pull it" is completely bogus as evidence of his complicity. Their entire claim rests upon the word "it" meaning 'the building.' The actual (and clarified by Silverstein himself) meaning of 'it' was the 'firefighting operation.'

Silverstein's comment was admittedly directed to the New York "Fire Department Commander." This comment is pulled out of context to imply that Silverstein's agreement to pull "it" means that the Fire Department commander for the city of New York was somehow in the loop to "pull" or "demolish" building 7. This is laughable on its face.

That Silverstein said this on national TV is also laughable on its face.

I have had many arguments on this point, including with some self-proclaimed "scholars," who refuse to smell what they're shoveling.

The downside of shoveling an unsupportable accusation, is of course, to be called "paranoid."

Every claim, every theory, every fact, needs to be scrutinized for accuracy. Include the critiques of the "debunkers", and vet the information.

It is those facts that cannot be debunked that you will find the actual truth, rather than the (bowel) "movement" truth we hear too much of.

and you are wrong

It appears entirely logical, of course..and without a doubt. Hard evidence is what is needed, and hard evidence is what will work, and what it will take.

And that I thought of course , too. I had hard evidence from the beginning, and usually it is such that matters the most, and timing is crucial. But when a case, and the facts are covered up, and the lie gets bigger and bigger for another two years, then often the evidence grows so significantly, that in the end, the evidence not only works as factual evidence, but it tells the story...the truth. it can bring out the motives, and if this was pre-meditated, and how this affects the damages to the victim, and who else is involved. and that is what I had.

The problem, only to mention one of them, is that evidence means nothing...absolutely nothing, until the case goes to court, or is settled. and since we have experts, no otherwise professional, i.e a lawyer, will form an opinion. What matters is to find an expert to support the evidence, even if it would be obvious to any jury, if myself pointed this out to them. (Of course, i cannot do that without a lawyer...I don't have those skills, and experience with law, and i could never win against a bunch of criminal lawyers defending the powerful party at all cost)

In my case, I had a lawyer, who was more scared than i was, and the only one i could find in the end. i only hired him, because the state covered up all the evidence, and used my information to clean up, superficially.

We had no problems getting one of the best forensic document and fraud examiners on the west coast, and that was weird in itself. My lawyer totally trusted him, and never even questioned the integrity of this person.

Well, the expert lied, and the lie was so bad, and so obvious, I cannot believe he felt secure enough to pull it off. But he did, and not one other expert in the country was willing to take a second opinion.

And even if everyone knew that he was lying, these experts have total immunity, and cannot be held accountable. (and in my case, this was not a matter of opinion, but as clean and factual as DNA)

A couple of the defendants had long criminal histories...they only made them
more powerful.

And, BTW, I am used to any comment I will get on this, so don't even bother.

Carol, you might enjoy this true story

In June, 2004, as many will recall, Bush brought his handy-dandy portable police state to S.E. Georgia for the G-8. As a Vietnam Vet, a vet of the street wars in America about civil rights and the war, as well as a psychologist, I had been doing pretty well, mainly because I knew early that I would be having some problems and got in touch with a psychiatrist, a friend of mine.

I had recognized the early signs of PTSD and Depression and knew that I could not afford to let it get worse. He agreed and I suggested an anti-depressant I figured would work. It did. I was doing just fine until the Spring and Summer of 2004. From March 'til after the G-8 was over, it was like we were living a a war zone. Choppers flying low over my house at midnight, shaking the whole house and causing the dogs to go nuts. Anti-aircraft batteries, everywhere. Personnel at the hospital having to cancel vacation plans and told that they might not be able to get home in the evening, if they lived on the Island, during G-8. Someone at the hospital was told that the feds had sent 30,000 body bags to the area. It wasn't for Osama's terrorist Navy, which could be landing any moment (snark), but for protesters. They even rigged the one bridge to St Simons to be blown in case of an attack of some kind, so that no one could leave the island.

Now, here's the kicker, when I went for my med check in April of that year, there was a new form that all patients had to read and sign. Essentially, it said that psychiatrists were required to report to authorities any statement by a patient that "might" be considered threatening to the president.

Chills ran up and down my spine. In my entire (30 years) professional life, I have never been required to present a patient with such a form, nor have I ever had to sign one.

I was working in San Francisco when the Democratic Convention was held there in 1984, but nothing like that form was ever even considered.

Anything one might say in opposition to Bush's insane policies could be considered a threat, I imagine. Who knows? We all know how much Bush and Cheney hate any and all dissent.

I fear that the health care professions have already been dragged, too far, into Bushworld and that it will only get worse.

However, most of the people who are throwing around psychiatric jargon are not psychiatrists or psychologists, but are pundits and other non-professionals.

I have taken to e-mailing them and warning them not to be making any psychiatric dx. without a license; that it could be considered a felony; practicing medicine without a license and that they could be held legally responsible for any and all negative results of such idiotic irresponsible behavior.

I managed to shut Tucker Carlson up for the remainder of his stint on CNN, after he referred to someone as paranoid. Writing to producers and legal departments is helpful as well.

Paranoia is a healthy state of mind when it comes to the government, especially this one. Just don't tell your psychiatrist, if the chicken-hawk preznit is within 500 miles of you.

Do you hear/see

the irony of your comment, and the reasoning you use, and suggestions you make, and conclusions you draw?

I really think the last person you have to worry about is a wanna- be -psychiatrist counseling others without a license.

At least, most non-professionals are not as stupid as they look.

You are suggesting the 'idiots' who know nothing shut up, and for the patients not to tell the licensed 'know-allers' anything, because their $200 hour shrinks cannot properly diagnose, and know the difference between reality and psychosis.

You got a good point, here, but .....

thanks for the story

Wonderful to tell nonprofessionals to stop using psychiatric diagnoses without a license!

I've never been asked to report possible threats against the president- guess I'd be the first reported.

We need a full investigation of 9-11, with the basic question being whodunit? The official commission assumed that Bin Laden had done it, and asked the question "why was there a failure of intelligence?" This is a coverup prima facie, and strong evidence in itself that 9-11 was an inside job. But for impeachment, all we need is enough suspicion to warrant an investigation- and there's plenty!
Peace, Carol

Goodman GreenI don't really have much to say for myself, I'm slow on the uptake and I should have gotten involved much sooner.

Loved your article

In all honesty I don’t really feel that I’m imagining it. I’m not at all having a Katrina related breakdown, it’s just that I sometimes wish that I was, because then I could just go seek help and everything would be all right. A little pill might make everything better. Unfortunately, it’s much worse than that, I’m afraid that seeing a counselor or a psychologist isn’t going to change anything because the problem isn’t in my head, the problem is in the world I live in.

Erich Fromm saw it years ago; modern psychology no longer seeks to help people with the process of individuation. Psychology’s objective now is to help people adapt to the society that they live in, to help them become normal within that society. The problem with that is that normal doesn’t necessarily equal healthy.

I live in an extremely unhealthy society where people live to consume. Cattle being fattened for the profit of the few. We consume entertainment, fashion, junk food, appliances, and we love our status symbols. Worst of all, we consume information whole and without chewing it before we swallow it. To chew on something is to contemplate it, a step that is necessary to understanding it. They don’t teach us this in our public schools, they teach us to swallow and regurgitate information, insuring that we never truly understand any of it. The meanings of the symbols that they use to enslave us are hidden because we are not taught to read them or comprehend them, only to swallow them whole.

That being said, why would I seek help when all they will do is lead me back to the trough? Why would I seek to be normal? Fact is, I wouldn’t and neither would you.

We are people! We are human beings not animals! We walk on two legs looking up to the stars instead of walking on all fours and staring into the dirt. Our intelligence is our blessing and in mythology caused the gods to fear us. Prometheus gave us fire, Hermes gave us the arts and the sciences, the serpent gave us an understanding of Good and Evil, we have all the advantages that we need, so who is it that tricked us into slavery? Upon whom shall we seek vengence and free our people?
