If I said, "I have heard somewhere, THOU SHALL NOT KILL , you would be after me in an instant. Before your ears had properly heard it, in a flash it would reach your heart, since that truth resides there also.
"We know that already , we will say. And turning away, the killing will resume even as the words still ring in the air.
God told Moses, "Here are laws that you might be rightly guided. If we listen with our heart, and to our heart, the meaning and import cannot be clearer. But why is it wrong to kill another? What do we do with the transgressor?
There is little the living have in common with the dead, but of that, one thing is certain. The faithful must say of both, that the Lord has given them life. The Lord has commanded us not to take life, because while one breath exists in a person, while they yet have a living foot on earth, there exists in them the brightest spark of God in all creation. Of course it is love.
It does not matter if one cannot even remember what that is. Before life, it was. It does not matter if the very thought of love fills one with the rage of loss, before gain, there was love.
Each person, may have any experience, may learn or teach any thing, in any way. This is the gift of choice. That a person may at any time find or search for the meaning of life, IS the living God quickening the breast of man.
That each person should search according to their own nature, and about their own nature is a GOD given right. Each must decide for themselves. To force another is to blaspheme, because only the LORD's light illumines our hearts.
To sacrifice each other is to deny that possibility for ourselves. It is no accident that through the many translations of time, in our language we can say that killing is a grave offense. Yes, but whose grave I wonder?
