This may not seem like a big deal on its face, however, when we consider that Jon Stewart and Colbert have accomplished more in waking-up America to much of the current political plight the Mainstream News Media won’t cover, and people who watch those shows, both extremely popular -their removal from the air will tend to help dumb-down America even more when it comes to the actual political antics that otherwise would have gone unnoticed. I’m especially sad to see Jon Stewart and Colbert go down, even temporarily, as they have contributed to waking-up millions of Americans who never before showed an interest in politics; comedy or not, the issues they highlight are often the real deal, and it will affect the general awareness of those that watch those shows regularly but don’t find their alternative news on the Internet. It’s a real loss for the Liberal/Progressive movement, IMHO.

Hollywood writers to strike in pay dispute

Hollywood’s screen writers’ union Friday announced an indefinite strike starting Monday — a move likely to see popular shows yanked off air in the US film and television industry’s biggest crisis in decades.

The 12,000 members of the Writers Guild of America will strike from Monday morning unless a deal is struck with producers over demands on pay and profit-sharing, the union said after its leaders met Friday.

Other nightly shows such as Jon Stewart’s “Daily Show” and Stephen Colbert’s “The Colbert Report” are also tipped to shut down, according to reports. MUCH MORE

It’s just another wrench in the machinery when we desperately need public awareness, and in my opinion, it couldn’t happen at a worse time. On the other hand, there have been writer strikes before that were settled rather quickly, but I also remember one that lasted for months. Maybe for once we’ll get lucky and this one will be over before it even gets started good.
