Dan Ellsberg: Sibel Edmonds case "Far More Explosive Than Pentagon Papers" by Luke Ryland Page 1 of 2 page(s) |
|
|
Brad has an update here.
Sibel has had an abundance of offers from the MSM since her announcement. Unfortunately, not a single one of them has come from the US MSM.
Ellsberg says: "I'd say what she has is far more explosive than the Pentagon Papers"
More from Ellsberg:"From what I understand, from what (Sibel) has to tell, it has a major difference from the Pentagon Papers in that it deals directly with criminal activity and may involve impeachable offenses," Ellsberg explained. "And I don't necessarily mean the President or the Vice-President, though I wouldn't be surprised if the information reached up that high. But other members of the Executive Branch may be impeached as well. And she says similar about Congress."
More Ellsberg: "There will be phone calls going out to the media saying 'don't even think of touching (Sibel's case), you will be prosecuted for violating national security,'"
Sibel said: "The media called from Japan and France and Belgium and Germany and Canada and from all over the world,
[...]
I'm getting contact from all over the world, but not from here. Isn't that disgusting?,"
More Ellsberg: "I am confident that there is conversation inside the Government as to 'How do we deal with Sibel?'
The first line of defense is to ensure that she doesn't get into the media. I think any outlet that thought of using her materials would go to to the government and they would be told 'don't touch this, it's communications intelligence.'"
Ellsberg: "(Unless Sibel's claims reach the mainstream) they don't suffer any risk of being shamed. As long as they hold a united front on this, they don't run the risk of being shamed."
Bradblog:They Already Know
Edmonds revealed an additional tasty morsel while wrapping up one of our recent conversations. One that might help explain the American media's reluctance to jump at the chance for a scoop: apparently many of them already know the story.
"I will name the name of major publications who know the story, and have been sitting on it --- almost a year and a half."
"How do you know they have the story?," we asked.
"I know they have it because people from the FBI have come in and given it to them. They've given them the documents and specific case-numbers on my case."
"These are agents that have said to me, 'if you can get Congress to subpoena me I'll come in and tell it under oath.'"

Rob, What Can WE Do to Get Edmond's Story Out
Rob, Do you think a coalition of progressive websites can get together and reveal Sibel Edmonds' story simultaneously? Are can we find reporters who can talk their newspapers into publishing her story? If not, I guess she should go global. It might be safer for her to speak out from another country anyway, where US authorities would have to try to extradite her if they press charges. Somebody brought up...
how it might be considered treasonous to spill the beans to a foreign media source... It probably is. Ellsberg faced similar accusations with The Pentagon Papers. It might take the money and bitterness of a Larry Flint type to help it see the light of day here... let's hope in something more reputable than the pages of 'Hustler'! With the recent 'Homegrown Terrorist' act, what media outlet has the balls to 'take one for the team'? It ain't 60 Minutes... Admitedly, I feel safer cheering some one else on rather than being in the 'hot-seat' myself... Know what I mean? I guess that's part of the problem isn't it? by C.Bid (0 articles, 7 quicklinks, 7 diaries, 739 comments [2 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Monday, Nov 19, 2007 at 10:05:18 AM

Before it's too late ...
If indeed it is understood that the MSM is never going to do the right thing then why waste time beating your head against a brick wall? Know this: the implications of Ms. Edmonds knowledge is not just a threat to those that are directly implicated in the alleged crimes, but an indictment of our system of government and a major threat to the elitist powers that control it. I suggest that Ms. Edmonds reconsider and use the Net to get her story out before it too is stifled. by Mr M (8 articles, 0 quicklinks, 66 diaries, 2845 comments [654 recommended, 27 rejected]) on Monday, Nov 19, 2007 at 11:49:47 AM

Reply: I Agree!
Sibel's story should be spread by what the founders called the free press and unfortunately, that is not the MSM. The blogs today are much more like what the founders had in mind when they talked about a free press. In their day, the press consisted of small printing presses that published pamphlets that were handed out ton the street. by PrMaine (13 articles, 13 quicklinks, 3 diaries, 510 comments [22 recommended, 1 rejected]) on Tuesday, Nov 20, 2007 at 8:38:51 AM

put it on the Net, Ms Edmonds, the People will do the rest
even if any of the criminal and treasonous MSM agrees to give her the time, they should not be trusted- a coordinated effort among all the indy media would result in a massive word of mouth campaign among the People. History has shown us over and over that the media and our "reps" will not tell truths that threaten the entire corrupt Establishment. TV and Newspapers had their day, now people are leaving them in droves as we have access to the Net and people in the left, right and center are realizing the MSM can't be trusted to tell the truth, and should be expected to lie about any really big issue. NAFTA has caused net job losses and stripped wealth and property from the middleclasses and the poor on both sides of the border- we never hear about the successes of NAFTA, GATT and the WTO, cuz there aren't any, for the people- we also never hear about the human, social and environmental destruction that these corporate welfare trade agreements have caused. Probably many OpEdNews visitors know by now that the Federal Reserve Banks are privately owned and our income taxes go entirely toward paying the interest on nothing-backed money- the Constitution authorizes Congress to coin money; why are we paying interest to private corporations and wealthy elites to create money, when Congress can do it interest-free? You probably also know, as Sibel Edmonds is a witness to, that principals in in the US govt have long participated in (or treasonously ignored/covered up) the illegal drug and arms trade in order to fund black ops and corporate-friendly dictators Solari.com NarcoNews.com HistoryCommons.org 911truth.org by Better World Order (4 articles, 568 quicklinks, 39 diaries, 1112 comments [56 recommended, 1 rejected]) on Monday, Nov 19, 2007 at 1:18:09 PM
