The Bush Regime and some of the wider implications

A rambling soliloquy with no particular conclusions...

Every time a soldier fires his M16 and goes on patrol in his Humvee, it appears in the balance sheet/profits of Lockheed Martin et al.

Everything else, bringing democracy, liberating the Iraqis from a brutal dictator, patriotically ‘supporting the troops’ is propaganda – it is bullshit.

The rich own shares in Halliburton, Lockheed Martin, Blackwater, et al, and they also own the reins of power. So they go to war for the profits – right? Well, in a way, yes; but there is much more to it than that.

Another reason for the war and occupation of Iraq, it has been said, is oil. The oil companies want to dig up the oil and sell it for profits, no? Well, if the oil stays in the ground, there is a shortage and the price goes up, whoopee! More profits. And the oil is still there to be dug up later for even more profits.

As a Brit, taking interest in what goes on in America and in George Putsch’s head, I would like to tell you my, and others observations of the view from England. Finally we got rid of the hateful poodle, Blair, and a Chancellor (finance minister) who has had the luck of presiding over a sustained growth for 10 years became Prime Minister. He got off to a good start, cooling (apparently) the relationship with George Putsch and giving up his holiday to go back to work for the unprecedented floods, and then the foot and mouth crisis, and even seemed to react, perhaps belatedly, to the Northern Rock Bank crisis, but who could blame him for being late, after all nobody ever expected that run on a bank right? Even though dire warnings of a global recession due to the greed and shenanigans of the rich Hedge Funds, sub-prime mortgage lenders and banks, precipitated a housing crash. Nobody can say that the writing was not on the wall. So he is a good man, has suffered a loss of a child, has limited sight in one eye, praising the National Health system of Britain and the doctors and nurses that saved him from being blind completely, as he recently reported in a speech to the Labour Party Conference. So he is a man of some substance, his own man, a man of principle and prudent with the public monies.

And yet, and yet, he has come out in support of a war with Iran! WTF? So you see, all is not right in the ‘old country’ too. And what about that Sarkozy in France, turning the country hard right so much he is called Sarkozy the American? And is Mertle of Germany any better? I have not done an exhaustive check on all the other leaders of the countries of the EU, that is for later, but it seems to me that generally the EU, with its stance on Iran sanctions and also Hamas and the Palestinians are also lock-step with the hard right republicans of America.

Which brings me to a possible conclusion, and that this is nothing to do with hard right politics or liberal-left-progressive or what have you.

No, it is a war on people. Why else would the Putsch regime give itself so many powers to dominate and subjugate the people of America? And why else does Britain go lock step with America passing legislation to lock up people without charge for 90 days? They didn’t get 90 days, only 28, but they haven’t given up on that one. We have our on Guantanamo in Britain, its call Belmarsh. And of all the Muslims who have been swept up in ‘terrorist’ round-ups, only two have been charged with terrorist offences, several have been charged with other offences like fraud with the social security, but the vast majority have had to be let go without charge. I wont go into the ridiculous ‘liquid’ bomber scare, except to say that experts in explosives have said that it is nigh on impossible to do what the scare is about; explosive toothpaste anyone? And some of these ‘liquid bombers’ did not even have passports, so could not travel, and not one of them had even booked a trip on a plane.

They keep the population of Britain docile and befuddled (just like Americans), with programs on TV like Big Brother, and they show all the American rubbish like American Idol too if you have satellite, as most do.

George Galloway of the Respect Party represents the political left and he is hated by the New Labourites, because he doesn’t toe the official line. You may have heard of him; a Congressional Committee accused him of profiting from his charity and selling oil Saddam gave him. I don’t think the Committee members knew what hit them when he came roaring into Washington to defend his good name and tore a big yellow strip off of them. I admire his stance and integrity but his respect Party is, sadly, not going anywhere under the present circumstances. We too, have a dog and pony show in Parliament; only we call it the Punch and Judy show.

I want to qualify where I am coming from; I have never studied Karl Marx or the Communist Manifesto, but I have read widely, perhaps not as much as some, but my newfound (35 years) old rebellion has its roots in my stint in the Royal Navy. Although not engaged in covert CIA type operations it was pointed out ad- nauseum, that the Soviet Union were, under Stalin, feeding obvious propaganda to their peoples. Newspapers, magazines, radio, TV (rudimentary in the 60’s) were all ‘on message’ including the radio programmes in English and other languages beamed with powerful transmitters towards the west, all spouting the same cosy picture. Remind you of any contemporary country? What began to dawn on me was that, it was exactly the same in the west, if only a little more sophisticated. But now with the Putsch regime all sophistication has flown out of the window. Blatant propaganda is all you can find the in MSM in every country in the western hemisphere, barring the stirrings of real democracy in South America with Chavez leading the charge against the US World Bank and The International Monetary Fund. All these institutions are designed to impoverish the peoples of the countries they lend money to, and impose draconian conditions on their loans. Years ago when I was younger the IMF was ‘called in’ to Britain and I well remember the feeling of that time, we were told to shut up and take the medicine to make the country fiscally sound again, or we would all go to hell.

Coming from another tack, I want to draw your attention to scientists. The Manhattan Project and the like. All the leading scientists of that Project have, to my recollection, said that they had unleashed ‘hell on earth’ with their discoveries and wished that they had never done it. Never mind the propaganda that Hitler was also doing it and the Americans beat him to the punch. If he had gotten it do you think he would not have used it? Yet the Americans used it on Japan, so who are the criminals? And there is ample indication that America is prepared to use it again on Iran.

By the way, the scientists didn’t use it; the politicians and the military were the criminals. Another scientist has ‘discovered’ that the radioactive ‘tailings’ called Depleted Uranium can be used to mould into useful armour penetrating shells and bombs. It’s the military and the politicians who use them, little caring about the long term consequences, cancer, leukaemia, deformed babies, etc.
