Everyone knows McCain is a former POW, but did you know he refuses to support a bipartisan effort to modernize the GI Billand has voted against nearly every effort to increase funding for health care and disability benefits for wounded soldiers? Did you know that Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America gave him a D+ when they scored his voting record (whereas Obama got a B+ and Clinton an A-). Do you know that he voted with the interests of Disabled American Veterans only 20 percent of the time? Check out this new internet video urging Senator McCain to support modernizing the GI Bill. The video, which is a joint project of Brave New Films, VoteVets.org, and General Wesley Clark's WesPAC features four veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, testifying about the problems they have with the current GI Bill. A team of researchers from Walter Reed Army Medical Center found 95% of soldiers deployed to Iraq reported seeing dead bodies and remains, 95% had been shot at, and 89% had been ambushed or attacked. 69% had seen an injured woman or child and felt they could not provide assistance. How well do you know your facts about U.S. veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan? Take the War Comes Home "Did You Know?" Why just back to 9/11? Why not make it back to the beginning of the Gulf War? or back to WWII. McCain was given a college degree for his service. by

Iowa native, did two years in the Army in Vietnam, hitched all over the world, self taught archaeolgist, handy with whatever needs to be done when there is no money to accomplish the task, Master Gardner, veteran organizer, community organizer, couple of years of college, a home owner, and writer of published essays and book reviews. Life is, according to a friend, "What it is."
More than an underfunded mandate I spent two years in Vietnam, and I have looked into veterans benefits extensively over the years. Compared to WWII every man jack that has served since has been taken advantage of and gets shorted for doing his duty. In 1973 I recieved $180 a month as my GI Bill alotment for education. I had to provide myself with housing, books, food, tuition and all the rest out of this $180. Compared to WWII folks who took advantage of the GI Bill, they got free tuition, free books, free housing, and a stipend for living expenses. A simple look at Ivy league schools then would show class rooms bulging with GI's. In the later stages of the 1970's if any of these schools had anyone attempting to get their degree from these places they would have to had plenty of extra cash from someplace because $180 a month wouldn't cover the book expenses. In WWII if you needed medical care, it was there for you. Shortly after the war in Vietnam ended so did most of the benefits promised to those who served and hadn't had a war wound or injury recorded in their medical records. Now you need to be destitute to get that "best care anywhere" If you have medical insurance and go to the VA they will charge your insurance plan to do treatment on you. Even at that time there were horror stories every day about conditions in places like Hines in Chicago. I recall a wheel chair vet that couldn't talk, he had been shoved onto an elevator and had ridden up and down for three or four days before they found him, dehydrated and in poor shape health wise. McCain is part of the same bunch that would keep the system this way. Unfortunate he won't release his medical records so we would know how poor his care was, and likely he hasn't been treated for PTSD or they would have him on enough drugs he would be a whole lot calmer when someone does steps on his tail. Frankly he needs retirement not the presidency. by

John McCain This WAKCO is another George Bush. he says he love's our military people and their service to our country? boy what bull-crap. i was in service in Vietnam, and heard many things about JonhMcCain. NONE GOOD. this fly boy crashed five aircraft. now about him as president he will get us more involved in the middle east. if now world war III. he has no intention of ever getting america out of IRAQ. he done told america we could be there another 100 years. he lives in a FANTASY WORLD like george bush. he and bush use the military for war, and then disguard them. our military are pons to play with. THESE TWO SCUM-BAGS are LIERS and our in IRAQ and the middle east for the wealthy oil Corporations and military contractors to PROFIT. tHIS WHOLE WAR IS A SCAM. the mitilary industrial complex and americas corporations should be tried for war crimes, along with the republican administration. the democrats are just as guilty. it makes me think that all have a share in the oil corporations. we are talking about Billions of dollars being made by politicans. there is no compassion for human life. we the people have let democracy slip away. all politacians go to Washington to cash in. they never had it in there minds to serve the people of america. Dont beleave a thing they say. its all GARBAGE, AND LIES. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TAKE BACK AMERICA. those days are gone forever. a pittifull shame. what was once a great country is now in SHAMBLES. The (ELITE HAVE CONTROL AND DONT WANT TO LET IT GET AWAY) stage a rebellion may be we the people can gain control again?????????????????????? by
