Whining liberals get real pony, reject shovel

Faced with a real pony for Christmas, liberals are lamenting the loss of the paper doll they have been used to. After eight years with a father figure who had to steal into the Whitehouse, who chickened out of flying fighter jets and chose the infantile gratifications of narcotics, strutted around arrogantly, trying to look like his own pubescent concept of a leader, liberals are having a hard time adjusting to a real man.

A "No Brag, Just Fact", man. Roping a recalcitrant Congress into accomplishing the first (of many, I predict) real tightening of controls over corporate extortion of the public in lo, these many years. Seizing the Possible and allowing the Dream to percolate, perhaps in hope the progressive wing of the Democratic Party would show some True Grit and get organized.

"Come on people now, smile on your brother.
Everybody get together, try to love one another--
Right now."

Although like Rush Limbaugh, the New York Times article on Pres. Obama, "Wimp or Warrior", would better be ignored, the comparison to former Pres. Carter (and, implicitly, Green Bay Packers' QB Aaron Rodgers) cannot be ignored. All are men who had to drag their teams out of a hole dug by their predecessors and got not only no credit, but catcalls from the crooks who never tire of such harpy-like behavior and have a financial interest in the status quo. We all know from living here the one thing these people are deadly serious about is their money, and ours. Carter dug us out of Nixon's Arab Oil Embargo and wage and price controls and resulting astronomical interest rates only to be betrayed by the treachery of the GOP stalling the hostages' release until election day, after trading arms to the enemy in exchange for cooperation.

QB Aaron Rodgers has endured a similar barrage of criticism persisting in the face of continued and persistent success.

In Obama's case, those doing the criticism are guilty of precisely the crimes of which they accuse. If Barack Obama had let thousands die in New York, New Orleans and Iraq, these gutless wonders would be donning their suits of media armor and girding themselves for a pinkies-raised verbal squabble. But worst are those who voted for the current President and now can't find their team loyalty because they are starved for an America that is yet "abornin'.

America has never yet seen equal justice, never yet had the wisdom to legislate, in the almost superhuman wisdom of Jefferson and Franklin, "inalienable rights" or "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". America is a work in progress. And that, one would think, would be where "progressives" come in and do their stuff. But, no. They got the pony and they can't understand there's gonna be shoveling required. Just because President Junior promised to be all things to all people as he allowed them to die, now even the liberals expect Daddy to do it all.

If the people, themselves, don't get up on their hind legs, for the second dog, the view won't be changing. President Obama can lead us to water and he can help make us drink it, but he can't pee for us. Those who were looking for Utopia and Gandalf aren't going to get much done. Those who fear speaking up or demanding recognition will merely sit typing and, like me, publishing puerile protests on the internet. But for those who can walk around their own neighborhoods organizing like Obama did, this President is prepared to listen.

Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their party and stand by your man. You put him there. Support him. Show some guts. Whether you noticed or not, you've got his back. Help him help you. And, like Ken Kesey said, "Never give an inch" of satisfaction to those who would neuter you and your ideals for their own profit.
