Celebrities!

Let's get real, every president of The United States should be a celebrity. With "W," we had to endure 8 years of a president who was not a celebrity; Bush couldn't deliver a speech any better than a "5th Grader." The U. S. has had to put up with two terms of mediocrity. Sadly, McCain is worse than Bush when it comes to delivering a speech. We are talking, 4th grade here. For someone of McCain's status, he should have developed the skill, years ago, of delivering a public speech, ... like a celebrity. He hasn't. While McCain criticizes public schools and Obama, he has at least 4 fingers pointing back at himself. Somehow, in his 50 year career, McCain has found it not fit to learn to deliver a speech. And in his last 15 years, McCain has learned, little if any, about using the computer and the Internet. Do we need a president like that?

In public school, it is deemed important to acquire the skill of public speaking. In rural schools, students in agriculture must learn to speak in public. The same with regular classroom skills, in other schools, as well, and what McCain's "effort" tells us is that he found it not important to learn or he was too lazy to work at delivering a speech, properly. McCain's answer to public speaking is reading a prepared manuscript over a teleprompter. Of course, none of his speeches are prepared by him, they are all prepared by his speech writers. All he has to do is read his speech, and to those of us who are quite capable of reading a prepared text ourselves, such an effort at "speech-giving" is a slap-in-the-face. We deserve better and we should demand better.

If McCain wants to use a prepared text, then any prepared text should be handed out to those of us who read, and then, having had the opportunity to read it, McCain should open the document up to questions, answers, and comments. Every time he reads his comments and speeches, it presents an example of someone who did not take advantage of his high school education and continued with the same for college and beyond. McCain would have found any teacher preparation course by any college valuable - he would have been able to throw away that teleprompter, long ago.

Yes, we need to elect a celebrity for president, ...for the first time since President Clinton.
