WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GAS REACHES 7 DOLLARS A GALLON ?

When gas reaches 7 dollars a gallon ~ those making less than 25 thousand a year will be spending 20% of their income on gasoline. Hoarding will turn a deep recession into a deeper depression and it's rapidly becoming a reality. A reality the Bush administration refuses to acknowledge and still covers up: Allen L Roland

Gasoline prices are over $4.50 a gallon in California . A few months ago, it used to cost me less than $25.00 to fill up my 2006 Honda Civic tank ~ now it costs me over $50.00 . I'm already limiting my driving and I get over 35 miles a gallon.

Here are three reasons why we could see gas at seven dollars a gallon before September ~

1. The United States edges closer to war with Iran ~ which it already is.

2. Monster Hurricanes hit the Gulf of Mexico in late summer.

3. Refiners and Retailers See Profit Margins Squeezed ~ which is already happening.

When we couple this high possibility of 7 dollar a gallon gas with massive unemployment and foreclosures ... many evicted families living in tent cities with cars they can't afford to drive ... food shortages and the real possibility of food and fuel riots ~ your looking at a REAL depression.

The United States is not alone in dealing with these deep economic problems ~ check out the extreme exposure to  a bursting housing bubble the UK's economy is now grappling with ...  http://www.moneyandmarkets.com/issues.aspx?UK-Housing-Bust-Spells-Trouble-for-Pound-1932

Prepare for Hoarding and a
Recession-Turned-Depression

Sean Brodrick

Money and Markets http://www.moneyandmarkets.com/issues.aspx?Oil-Crisis-Worsening-Whats-Next-1926

" Why hoard? Well, when the price of gas rises 10 cents in a week, as it did in my neighborhood, it starts to make economic sense to hoard gas. Say you run a lawn service that uses 500 gallons of gasoline a week. If you buy next week's allotment ahead of time, you can save $50 a week.

And if refinery utilization is so low that gasoline stations simply run out — or a massive hurricane takes out refinery capacity — then you'll see hoarding kick into overdrive. This will only deplete stockpiles that are already near historic lows, making the whole situation much worse. Eventually, we may get to the point where you are unable to buy gas.

I'm talking about actual gasoline shortages ... massive unemployment and foreclosures ... evicted families living in tent cities and cars they can't afford to drive ... maybe, if things get really bad, food shortages and food and fuel riots.

At $7 gasoline, those making less than $25,000 a year will see gasoline expenditures go from 7% of their income to 20%. For some people, it simply won't be worth it to drive to work.

Factor in the airlines parking planes, delivery trucks no longer running, fishing fleets staying in port, and car manufacturers going out of business.

Wait a minute ~ car makers going out of business?! Yep, GM is on deathwatch now, and it's not getting better. In fact, according to a leaked report from J.D. Power and Associates, the June seasonally adjusted annual sales rate will plunge to 12.5 million vehicles, down from 16.3 million last June.

Add it all up, and America has the ingredients for a major economic collapse."

Wrong question....

The question should be, what happens when the dollar falls another 50%... oil goes up another 50%.  Simple.  Everybody is focused on the wrong subject!

There may be another shift in pricing when oil producing countries shift from dollar denominated oil to Euro's or yuan etc.   Thus the pricing of oil my begin to be nonlinear in it's rise.

Good point , Iran just switched from the dollar to the Euro ~ which explains the increased war talk. We attacked Iraq a month after it also switched from the dollar to the Euro.

It was and still is all about oil !

The solution is quite simple. After work everyone goes out and buys a tent. Then everyone watches films Like SULLIVANS TRAVELS (1941)
Directed by Preston Sturges., With Joel McCrea, Veronica Lake, Robert Warwick.

Then fully prepared we, sell our homes at rock-bottom prices, hop a freight train and head for a lake or river for water supply (which is not hard these days and light our cigars with the Bushel basket full of hundreds of thousands of dollars that once made up out fortunes, and quit society, living by our wits in the out back of America.

That is what always happens to nation of avarisitic, triviality-chasing, insipid, status seeking, slobs, who murder the unborn, support torture, capital punishment, war on nations 1/12 their size, steal oil, revel at murdering people because of their religion or lack thereof and elect and still support monsters in public office who are on par with their idol Adolph Hitler.

Don't mean to be flippant Allen, but it is the truth. Nice piece.

Good rant, Peter ~ and thanks . We , meaning Americans, are going to have to pay for our excesses and neglect of our Constitution. It will be painful but, in the end, will bring us together in preparation for the great coming together of mankind.

Re: WHAT HAPPENS WHEN GAS REACHES 7 DOLLARS

An excellent question which you've posed, Allen.

Even if there's no attack on Iran and the price slowly climbs to even $5.50 a gallon? There are many people in this country who are having a terrible time adjusting to even today's prices let alone a buck fifty more per gallon. I can't imagine people paying $7? Not without a revolt. Some in this country are only making $7.00 an hour, ya know!

Things are slowly deteriorating drip, drip, drip.

Tonight our local ABC affiliate reported that some people in the Delaware Valley are resorting to breaking into people's sheds and stealing their gasoline containers. Things are bad, and the media, they won't expose the real reason for these price increases. Instead, they pretend as though they are your friend, and are there to help you make the best of this contrived price gouging. "Gray skies are gonna clear up, just put on a happy face."  I don't think so.

Meanwhile, these same broadcasters are pulling in hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in salary, some as much a four million per year and are not truly facing the dire hardships a good portion of their viewers are.

$7 will be welcome and desired

For if we attack Iran, I would put the price of gas at close to $20. Iran has already said it will attack Israel and any US seaways (going so far as to launch nine test missles) should it find itself under attack.

If oil is blocked from leaving the Middle East, what impact will that have on the price of gas?

NOW let's couple that with the fact that the dollar's value is heading the way of the peso and, to me, that give us the perfect storm where $7 will be a fond rememberance.  We'll welcome it...just like we'd love to see $3.25 a gallon again right now.

The lawmakers won't stop this criminal administration, it appears that that is going to have to come from the rest of the world.  And it will surely be at our expense.

$7.00 gallon gas

The price of gasoline just reach $7.19 a gallon yesterday at the local gas station and that was up from $5.31 just the day before.  I can see it go higher, when the next fuel barge shows up.  Just to show a point when price of gas go up higher than $4.50 a gallon down in the lower 48.  That is what we Alaskans. call the continental United States.  Lucky us, we don't have that many miles of road, where I'm at.
