Georgianne Nienaber, an investigative journalist who regularly posts award worthy articles to OpEdNews, has posted information she feels Americans especially those in the Midwest should examine. Understanding what can happen downstream is important and Nienaber asks that you check out this page which details the Old River Structure which may have to be opened if high water trends continue. Sandbagging has begun by order of the Louisiana Governor, Bobby Jindal (R), with the National Guard participating. Nienaber also has found USGS readings (which are part of an Advanced Hydrological Prediction Service). The readings are indicative of what may happen in the not-so-distant future. New Orleans,LA, I've sent an email to the NWS on these USGS readings to see what they have to say. I will also send an email to FEMA to see if these readings mean anything to them.
