Recent news has six heirs to the Wal-Mart fortune enjoying more wealth than a thirty percent slice of the entire population of the United States.
.
Doing the arithmetic:  30% of 310 = 93, 93 / 6 = 15.5 mil, or in words:  EACH of the Walton 6 (who has done nothing to earn or deserve it) has as much wealth as  FIFTEEN  AND  ONE  HALF  MILLION  other Americans.  That is:  EACH of the Walton kiddies owns as much as the population equivalent of New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago COMBINED
.
Somehow I can find little consolation in the proposition that we are all born equal in the eyes of God when I consider the ungodly odds at 15.5 million-to-one against!
.
Dayem, think of the difficulty of just storing and guarding that kind of wealth!
.
The American dream:  Anyone can become a billionaire, and Hey, it used to be just a millionaire!  Of course the best way to accomplish this feat is to be lucky enough to have a very rich and dead daddy.
.
Dayem, and this naif thought the Waltons were just a TV show.  I guess it was a reality show, because this is reality in today's America.
.
We can change (oops!) all this, but it will not happen under any of the current Republican whackos, nor under Pontificator Hopey Changey (C'mon, Dems, get a grip!) unless one owns considerable stock in a weapons company, pharmaceutical or medical-insurance firm, or an investment bank, or -- again -- has a very rich daddy.
.
Just sort'a thinkin' and daring the unpopularity and disdain to suggest like perhaps maybe we might possibly ought to consider a sane alternative to the partisan addiction to the "lesser-evil" conviction.  And while we're at it, muster the courage and integrity to take a peek at the Truman-Eisenhower era income and inheritance tax tables.

Leaving behind a treacherous government now addicted to perpetual war, its limitlessly greedy and power-lusting masters, as well as the retarded albeit smirky Republicans and their evermore clonish Democrat colleagues, a braindead electorate (more...)
