For OpEdNews: Allen L Roland - Writer

The journey of my heart eventually led me to the mystic Sufi poet and celebrator of love ~ Rumi. Only those who have truly surrendered to love can fully understand the ecstasy of Rumi's poetry but others will still feel the deep stirring and forgotten rapture of a love that resides deepest within each one of us: Allen L Roland

Why is a 13th century Islamic mystic Rumi the most popular poet in America? Because he celebrates love in a world seemingly devoid of love.

For eight hundred years, Rumi’s writings and poetry have enchanted, inspired, and enlightened Muslims, Jews, Christians, Hindus, and Buddhists, by celebrating the sacred in everyday existence and, in the process, transcending boundaries of time, place, and religion.

Rumi's poetry is the perfect example of the joy and celebration of being in the Unified Field of love and soul consciousness ~ that resides deepest within each of us and also transcends boundaries of time, place and religion.

In this regard, Link TV"s Global Spirit is presenting a program entitled RUMI, POET OF THE HEART which Premieres Sunday, June 7th at 9PM Eastern/6PM Pacific

Here are a few of my favorite Rumi poems ~

This is love:

to fly toward a secret sky,

to cause a hundred veils to fall each moment.

First, to let go of live.

In the end, to take a step without feet;

to regard this world as invisible,

and to disregard what appears to be the self.

Heart, I said, what a gift it has been

to enter this circle of lovers,

to see beyond seeing itself,

to reach and feel within the breast.

The call of love:

Come, come, whoever you are.

Wonderer, worshipper, lover of leaving.

It doesn't matter.

Ours is not a caravan of despair.

Come, even if you have broken your vow

a thousand times

Come, yet again, come, come.

On Passion:

Passion makes the old medicine new:

Passion lops off the bough of weariness.

Passion is the elixir that renews:

how can there be weariness

when passion is present?

Oh, don't sigh heavily from fatigue:

seek passion, seek passion, seek

passion!

And finally some advice on life from Rumi ~ from beyond time and space and certainly within the Unified Field of love and soul consciousness.

On Life:

A lifetime without Love is of no account

Love is the Water of Life

Drink it down with heart and soul
