of danger.

of an impenetrable curtain
of rustled rain
wresting thirst from the Earth.

plunging along
an invisible Chisolm Trail
as Thunder
unholsters its sixguns
for a showdown
with Lightning.
The sounds of its rawhide
cattledrive rifleshot crackers
fracture the ears as hooves pound
the invisible ground
with a heart-quickening fear
Nature wants us
Dead, not Alive.
Then Lightening arrives
in floor-to-ceiling flashes,
beating its chest,
white-hot, demanding
Look at me!
See me! Fear me! Admire me!
Down on your knees
to worship so sexy
a blade of pure energy
displayed
in the face
of the Thunder!
But Wind's gusts
abruptly attack,
hustling them off,
Long Riders flapping
after
like sails, leaving
-----only a cleannnnn-----
in such high, raised relief
you can almost see
behind
objects left
in the redolence
of the rain.............
