I read with interest Congressman Tom Cole's interview in the Sunday Oklahoman, July 19, "Iraq war in GOP's struggles". He admitted after all this time, that the war was a war of choice, not a necessary war for the survival of the United States. I am glad he has figured this out. He voted funds for this war over and over the last few years.
I heard nothing about the cost in blood and money from in the 6 plus years of the war in Iraq. Nothing about the loss of people in his district. I did hear him lament about the loss of power of the Republican party in Congress and the election of a Democratic President. Bush's ideas of unprpvoked aggression should be tossed. good. A little late for the lost and hurt in the war in Iraq!
Wars should be fought for national survival, not for politics or profits, nothing more.
The Democrats were voted in in 06 to end the war. President Obama was elected to end the wars. But they have not keep their word.
Maybe it's time to divorce ourselves from both parties, and send independent folks to represent us, that are not beholden to party interests.
Time for another change!
In case you think I'm a liberal democrat, I'm not. I'm a Goldwater Republican, and I'm sure that Sen. Goldwater is spinning in his grave at the events that happened in the last few years.
