Obama may choose Monsanto's GE-nightmare over an organic human vision

by Linn Cohen-Cole

www.opednews.com

Tell A Friend

The Obama people ask us all to express our "vision" at http://www.change.gov/page/s/yourvision.

Meanwhile Obama is putting together a literal nightmare for the American people by considering appointing Tom Vilsack to head the USDA.  Vilsack is Monsanto's guy.

Watch agriculture - it's where your lives are being undone ... and in such banal ways, GE-seed by GE-seed, state law by state law, economic rights by constitutional rights by human rights.

A non-nightmarish vision begins with getting rid of the horror of genetic engineering.

Genetic Engineering causes:

FARMERS BONDAGE TO BIOTECH CORPORATIONS turning farmers into tenant farmers on their own land.

LOSS OF HUMAN CONTROL OF SEEDS (life itself) to multinational corporations.

*Ten companies now control more than two-thirds of global proprietary seed sales.

*Ten companies now control almost 90% of agrochemical sales worldwide.

*Ten companies now account for three-quarters of industry revenues.

DANGER TO HUMAN HEALTH
GE-crops already linked to diabetes, allergies, infertility.

PRIVATIZING OF NATURE ITSELF through DNA

PROFOUND HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION - almost inexpressible - in destroying millennia of OPEN access to all natural substances for human beings and the connection between farmers and natural growth.

THREAT TO DEMOCRACY in laws being putting in place to preempt communities and farmers from rejecting GE-crops.

THREAT TO FOOD SECURITY because GE-crops displace local, sustainable agriculture which is the most certain protection for access to food in emergencies.

THE "SOWING OF GLOBAL WARMING" with each seed because they are designed to require huge amounts of petroleum based pesticides.

THREAT TO FARMERS through the massive monopolistic powers of a few corporations "owning" our most crops and raising prices at will as Monsanto just did on seed corn - during a world food crisis and after the devastating floods in the Midwest - knowing it had an utterly captive market.

THREAT TO THE POOR - and all people - AROUND THE WORLD because world food prices are being manipulated through biotech agribusiness owners of the major world commodities.

The choice of Tom Vilsack would be a betrayal of all that Obama says he represents - most especially two groups, small farmers who are being destroyed by lawsuits and crushing prices for seeds, and black people who as the poorest of the poor are on the receiving end of the worst food in this country.

Vilsack is closely connected to Monsanto

which is pushing laws state to state to limit labeling of all GE-products and crops and animals,

as well as pushing laws to preempt democratic control of communities to stop GE-crops from being planted,

and is now picking off seed cleaners state to state

who are the last bulwark against complete and total monopoly by Monsanto of all corn and soy seeds in the Midwest.

Obama could not make a more terrible move for our democracy, our land, our farmers, our people.

Excuse me, but what the hell is he thinking?

Does corruption begin now?

If you are sick of the multiple threats of genetic engineering and feel its time that people around the world get heard on how much we oppose it and corporate control of seeds - the source of all food and health substances - join FarmOn, which aims to create a huge list to our fund legal defense groups at the level they need to go up against multinationals on more than chump change.  http://groups.google.com/group/farmon

Met libertarian and conservative farmers and learned an incredible amount about farming and nature and science, as well as about government violations against them and against us all. The other side of the fence is nothing like what we've been (more...)

I wonder what this would mean for regulation.

There is soooo much evidence on the negative aspects and effects of Genetic Engineering (especially against some of the Monsanto policies and procedures-------- just look at the writings and citations from the OTA).

Yikes!

In addition to all of the incredibly 'nothing's-changed-we're-the-elites-and-military-industrialists-and we-will-have-more-war-and-a-global-order' appointees, we now will likely get the 'professional-poison-engineers' ?

If such an appointment happens.... that will put 'paid' to any notion that Obama brings not just 'more of the same' but 'much worse than before'.

Unfortunately, AJ is sounding more and more sane and prophetic with each passing day....

We should expect to see the delusional 'appointee apologists' for Obama move into high gear over this one.

Has it dawned on you yet ...

... has it penetrated your thick skulls that this government isn't our government but a group of executioners hell bent on murdering us?

No? Yes?

Are you still living in a fog of hopeless vision that either of these political parties represent you? You think Obama is there to change things?

Because let me tell you something, he's going to change things alright, but not for the better, and not for you.

Look-up CODEX Alimentarius, whose policies go into effect 12/31/09, and in its first year will kill 3,000,000,000 people. I didn't make a mistake in the zero's - the billion.

Than look at who Obama has been placing around him and ask if you think he's going to stop CODEX.

God-damn it! Wake the f*ck-up!

Soon we won't have this means to communicate. Do you think that this gang of murders is going to allow us to organize using this tool when after January when the economy implodes and they introduce the AMERO, and declare Martial Law when riots start, and if they can't control the rage, than give us another false-flag attack, blaming cyber-terrorists, pass S-1959 and limit the Net to nothing more than another political propaganda tool and entertainment machine, for the few of us that will still be able to afford it?

Jesus Christ, please, with every pick this Judas picks he sticks the knife of a New World Order into our gut that doesn't include you, me, or 6 to 7 billion other of us.

Do you get this? We're at war. We've been at war since 9/11/2001, before really, but it got hot on that day. Before that and since they've been killing us in this war with soft weapons such as the kind Monsanto has been giving us, which only will be accelerated when CODEX goes into effect.

Or are you going to poo-poo what I'm saying, and call me "negative" or "repetitive" and stick your head back in the sand?

Or is it going to dawn on you that we are at war, and we need to prepare for the death these cretins are about to rain down on us?

You've been lied to so many times and so often most of you can't even conceive of what I'm talking about. It won't be able to get through that wall of deceit that has been built around you. You'll look at that wall but you won't be able to read the writing on it.

God help you. God help all of us, because Obama sure isn't going to.

Reply: They will simply ignore you M...

They will ignore you because their ego will not let them even begin to consider that they might be completely totally and utterly WRONG in thinking that Obama was the "lesser" of the two evils....

They are all to busy patting each other on the backs as our freedom and liberty continues to be trampled on as he states point of fact that he will continue with the Patriot Act and the warrantless wire taps (for the security of the nation, of course...)

The NATIONAL POLICE FORCE, was completely dismissed every time I brought it up, as was the re-introduction of slavery  in the form of MANDATORY SERVICE....

Nobody seemed to bat an eyelash at the fact that it flies in the face of the 13th amendment..

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Nope heads buried in the sand, but we have seen this before...  Bush lied when he said that we were under attack by terrorists..  But Al Gore was telling the truth when he predicted the weather, 50 YEARS from now using numbers that were admitted to be bogus...

Never let a good crisis go to waste...  Isn't that what they said???  They haven't yet, and I doubt they will start any time soon..

Ciao, CZ

Glad you posted this, Linn-please do a longer one on Vilsack

Monsanto is no doubt the most evil of all American corporations, although a strong case could be made for Coca Cola for that distinction....The legislative influence of both is staggering, but so was Nero's and so was Hitler's.

In Hawaii, Monsanto has until lately beat down opposition to their massive Genetic Modification experiments, and last year, Monsanto's lobbyist helped prevent so much a hearing in the House Health Committee on a bill to ban aspartame, even though it has been a decade or so since Monsanto owned the patent on Aspartame.

In many dairy states, they have filed and won injunctions prohibiting dairies from putting 'bovine growth hormone free' on their cartons!

I was hoping you would post something on this, Linn, but I wish you would go into a bit more detail? Thanks,

Reply: Just don't withold criticism of potential pick

until after the choice is made....that would be just plain negligent, and stupid, to boot, yet that is how most of America passively watches politics, like it was some kind of Superbowl game.

Reply: Others on Obama's list are even worse

You don't seem to understand that even considering Vilsack is a serious betrayal of farmers, us and our health.   I am told by those more deeply involved in farming that Collin Petersen, Charlie Stenholm and others mentioned would on be "bigger nightmares."

Reply: I completely understand what you are saying....

and I commend you for being the only one saying it, in my limited realm of media (are there others?), and I concur only because I know what Monsanto is capable of, and to pretend otherwise, is to turn one's face away from their heinous activities, including Genocide.

The whole things a joke.

Obama isn't going to change a dam thing and is probably backing GMO foods because his keepers tell him to!  The list of BS keeps growing and I feel really bad for those that voted for this blatant liar!

As for AJ, he is NO prophet but, he has very viable guests on, that do nothing other than research.  He is a very intelligent and well rounded man for his age.

I for one have been involved with organic foods for a long time.  Long before anyone got to see the world according to Monsanto and before the good general and his wife came out about codex.  These are great things to get involved in and to become aware of.

I have a 3 yr old son that is built like a bull! He doesn't get sick and has not had their stupid shots nor will he ever.  The kid is smart, caring and full of energy.

My niece who is 8 just started her period the other day and I contribute this fact the GMO, steroids and antibiotics but here mom, well she's an idiot!  I tried to warn her but she failed to listen.  Her choice.

If people do not wake the f*&k up and do it now, they will all be government owned.

I do not believe in god but if there is such a thing, may he help us all.

In the mean time, I have a few things I can count on.  My brain, my survival skills and my guns.

I suggest all of those who do not use any of the above, start!

You can only count on you and nobody else. Don't trust anyone.  Especially one man!

Our federal gov't has been genetically modified

Biotech influence (esp. Monsanto) at the Federal level really took off with Bush #1. Lots of Monsanto lobbying money to John Ashcroft, who became Attorney general. Also to Larry Combest, then chairman of the House Ag Committee. Clarence Thomas was a Monsanto attorney before getting picked for the Supreme Court. Don Rumsfeld was president of Searle Pharmaceuticals. Tommy Thompson, Secretary of Health, took $50k from biotech and used state funds to set up a $317 million "biotech zone" in Wisconsin. Mitch Daniels, Director OMB, was VP of corporate strategy at Eli Lilly (w/Monsanto developed rBGH). Ann Veneman, Secretary of Ag, was on the board of directors of Calgene, which was purchased by Monsanto. I imagine their interests are very well entrenched by now.
