Scientific American, CBS News, AP, CNN, Wash.Post, NYTimes discuss U.S. Voting Machine Flaws

Dear Citizens and Voters,

Recent (August) articles and videos by Scientific American, The Associated Press, CBS News, The NY Times,
The Washington Post, a top Republican cyber-security expert, and others, discuss the flaws of U.S. voting machines.

These articles and videos are particularly important because our national press has not until now diligently informed us on election integrity and voting system issues.

Of specific interest are:

1. The video of Republican security expert Stephen Spoonamore: http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/images/Spoon_Full.wmv

2. Articles by Ph.D. computer scientists rebutting the recent book "Electronic Elections" by e-voting proponents,

3. *Today's* CNN's Lou Dobbs report that Diebold/Premier has publicly admitted that its machines drop votes from entire touch-screen memory cards and has warned all jurisdictions that use its machines of the "bug" that can lose hundreds of votes in each county.  Lou Dobbs: CNN - Democracy at Risk - A voting machine company admits
to software flaws in Ohio elections. Kitty Pilgrim reports.
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bestoftv/2008/08/21/ldt.pilgrim.democracy.at.risk.cnn

NOTE: Any election outcomes implemented Diebold/Premier touchscreen voting machines in the last ten years are in doubt.

Please read these articles or view these videos and support strong, scientific post-election auditing procedures.

good news, but

It is good that it is finally being covered, but shouldn't it be BLOCK CAPITAL HEADLINES in every main paper?  Your vote no longer counts for ANYTHING!  The company admitted it themselves.

So what does that tell us about those newspapers who ignore this?   Have they sold out?  or have they given up?   Or do they honestly not give a damn?

In that moment when democracy clearly morphs into facist oligarchy, when the people's vote is no longer worth a bent cent, the news of the day turns away..

The risk assessment by Dan Wallach cited here is grossly inaccurate and erroneously biased toward DRE+VVPAT.

Wallach rates the confidentiality, integrity and denial of service of DRE+VVPAT the same as precinct optical scan, which is incorrect. In fact, using Wallach's rating system, DRE+VVPAT would be O(1) in all three categories, not O(P).

As well, Wallach claims that end-to-end crypto voting is invulnerable
to integrity attacks "assuming these systems are used and audited
properly." Hmmm....isn't that what ALL vendors say about their systems?

Think about it.
