I’ve had it up to here with you, Hamas. And, you know what? The people of the Palestinian territories suffering under Israeli apartheid have had it too.

The UN has had it also. You make life difficult for the UN. If only you would not resist and try to survive, if only you would just take it and let Israel annihilate you and your family in the Palestinian territories.

If only you had not broken the ceasefire truce between you and Israel after Israel broke the truce in the first week of November, than perhaps all those innocent civilians would not have died.

If only you had not expected Israel to hold up its side of the bargain in the truce and ease its blockade of Gaza, then maybe there would not have been situations like the one where Israel told about 100 Palestinians to go take cover in a house before they shelled the house killing those who thought Israeli Defense Forces were trying to save their lives.

If only you had not staged an armed coup and taken control of the Palestinian territories after the U.S. supported and armed Fatah so that Fatah could remove Hamas (which was elected in a democratic, free and fair election) from power, then universities and schools and hospitals where you were allegedly using civilians as “human shields” would not have been bombed.

If only your stated goals did not involve the destruction of the state of Israel, then perhaps, the world could turn to you and support you as a way out of this mess which has Israel engaged in the wanton destruction of Gaza through the use of weapons like white phosphorus shells and the biggest weapon of all---the siege of Gaza which has led to starvation, lack of food, water, power supplies, medicines, and anything else a person may need to live.

What you are doing is abysmal and barbaric when compared to Israel’s military offensive on the Palestinians, when compared to Israel’s shelling of UN operations, when compared to Israel’s fierce obstruction of Red Cross humanitarian actions, when compared to Israel’s ban on reporters which gives Israel the ability to conduct a mean misinformation campaign and continue the assault on Gaza, and when compared to the “shock and awe” campaign that Israeli leaders are waging so they can earn political support for an upcoming election.

How dare you in an area that is densely populated with people who have nowhere to go even consider using innocent civilians as “human shields”, a tactic that Israel would never consider using?

Of course, you could never understand what it’s like to be at sleep at home with your family and have your sweet dreams interrupted with rocket fire that kills your children robbing them of life, liberty, and a prosperous future. It’s not like we have killed hundreds of children intentionally.

Israel would never intentionally bomb innocent civilians. (Right, Lanny Davis?) Hamas, you would. And, that’s the difference. You do not think Israel has a right to exist and you refuse to recognize it’s right to exist.

Israel asks that you recognize its de jure existence and you only agree to recognize its de facto existence. That’s not good enough for a people who suffered a Holocaust and therefore, are entitled to the land that your ancestors once lived upon.

After more than sixty years of Palestinian struggle and suffering, you don’t seem to get it. Zionism will win. Terrorist jihad will fail. You will not defeat Israel's settler colonialism.

So, dammit Hamas, put down your fucking rockets! Lay the arms you are firing in your struggle for survival down! And, let the people of Gaza live!

*Note: The author does not support the violence being used by Hamas nor does the author support Hamas. In fact, the author wishes that a true liberation group was fighting Israel. But, the author recognizes that Hamas' actions are a result of Israel's blockade and Israel's policies of apartheid and the author is fed up with people who think Hamas rocket firing justifies Israel's bombardment of Gaza.

*Further note: OEN does not allow for the "F" word to be used. The author intended to say "put your fucking rockets down now" in the title. He was warned and told it is not OEN policy to curse in the titles. In the future, the author will seek to contain his frustration and not use words that adults use so that they do not, as Lewis Black says, hit people over the head with tire irons.
