Capricorn Full Moon Eclipse 2009

Revolution by the people.  Military coups.  Global warming legislation.  Hypocrisy exposed.  Jobs lost as economic structures fail.  'Stars' passing over.  Public health insurance options.  These are the issues facing our world.  These are the issues reflected in the Cosmic Story.

The Full Moon Lunar eclipse at 16 Capricorn on July 7, 2003 is the first of three eclipses coming up in the next month.  There is a solar eclipse at 30 Cancer on July 21 and another lunar eclipse on August 5 at 14 Aquarius.

This unusual triple event will mark an energetic shift that will finally move us forward in August.  If you've been feeling stuck, you're not the only one!   It seems like we're in a holding pattern and while it can be frustrating, it can also be very liberating.   If you're on track with leaving old patterns, habits and beliefs behind, you have to remember that you are creating a vacuum which needs to be filled.

Since things are not moving forward at the quick pace we've gotten used to in our computerized society, it's a good time to stop, take a deep breath and step into an alternate reality.  If you find yourself with some extra time on your hands, or empty spaces in your life, this is a chance to do something you really like - something that feeds your soul. This is a good time to bring your everyday life into balance, leaving time for your body, your mind, your emotions and your spirit in your busy work week.

My friend D told me a story about an incident that opened her to new realities.  She was with a group of women who went to a quiet place in nature to do some inner work.  She was showing the women a drawing she had made of bees swarming into a hive in a tree-trunk.  Suddenly, the women heard some buzzing and looking up, saw a swarm of bees.  As they watched, the bees swarmed down into a tree that was there in the meadow.  Exactly like in her drawing.  Magic happened!  And it was because my friend and her friends had created a space for it.  There's a whole world out there that isn't concerned with making money or paying the bills.  While you might not believe in magic, magic believes in you.  "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

We are coming to a major turning point where we will have to take a stand on what's important in life - like our sisters and brothers in Iran have been doing.  On a personal level, you might have to decide where you're going to spend your time or money. On a societal level, we are also called to take a stand on what we really believe in - capitalist greed or community welfare, huge corporate profits or saving our environment.  Our structures are being renovated, and when Pluto finally leaves Capricorn in 2024, the changes we institute now will create the new life we want for our children and their children.

So we need to DREAM BIG!  And that means we need to access the creative imagination, a big part of our spiritual heritage, to dream.  That means we have to leave behind the materialism that flattens our world and makes us see only one dimension of reality.  The ladies on the View had 'psychics' on this morning, and all of them except Whoopi reject those other realities.  What are we so afraid of?  All our ancestors - especially the ones who helped create our Western society, such as Pythagoras and Plato, Galileo and Newton - believed in the spiritual, mysterious aspects of life.  But that all changed with the Industrial Revolution and the Age of Enlightenment.  Since America was 'discovered' and settled during this era, these beliefs are part of the American psyche.

Did you know that Americans work more than any other people in the world?  Why?  This might be a good meditation for you on the full Moon eclipse, since Capricorn represents the social structures that rule our lives.  What does work mean to you?  And why has it become the center of our lives?  Our present out-of-balance belief about work goes back a few Pluto-in-Capricorn cycles to the Protestant work ethic.  Do you realize that this belief stated that if you had money, you were favored by God?  And if you didn't have money, well, I guess you were definitely going to that 'other' place where sinners belong!  With Pluto beginning his new journey through Capricorn, this might be a good belief to discard!  What would you feel like if you didn't have to work to have value?  If you were valuable because you were loving and creative?  What would happen if our need for money suddenly disappeared?  Who would we be if we didn't describe ourselves by our work?

Eclipses mark endings and beginnings, and you're probably working out some issue that needs to be resolved so that you can get on with your life.  It's a good time to eliminate anything that no longer serves your vision of life.  That includes finances, relationships, jobs or belief systems. The patriarchy is dead - it just doesn't realize it yet.  If you stand in your personal integrity, what do you really owe the old system?  In the big picture, our society is changing and we're seeing more and more clearly how the old limiting beliefs are no longer viable - such as the view held by some in the US Congress that global warming is a myth, or the hypocrisy of leaders who say they are moral examples while letting their libido run wild.  This change will become clearer and clearer through next year as we continue with the on-going Uranus-Saturn oppositions.  The NEW will win out in the end.  But the Old will continue to try to stop it.
