Unfortunately, due to the complicity of the Mainstream News Media, America is at a crossroads – one that most citizens aren’t even aware of; our MSM is run by corporate interests, and even though some reporters would give anything to tell us the truth, they are stifled from reporting the real news by their corporate masters. We have one or two reporters that deserve the Medal of Freedom for their honesty and tenacity, like Keith Olbermann for instance – but his audience is too small to make a real difference, and the news I’m speaking of should dominate the media, in print , on the radio and on all of the nightly news reports, but instead, what we hear are bits and pieces of so-called news that fail to sound the alarm that America is dying, not a slow death, but our economy is close to a complete collapse, and if Bush and Cheney have their way, World War III could begin at any moment. Yes, it’s that serious, yet the MSM refuses to tell Americans the truth, traitors and cowards for refusing to honor their own beliefs in journalism and protecting the freedom and democracy that a “free press” traditionally provided to its subscribers. The framers of our constitution understood that a free press was essential to the survival of our democracy, and even on our own government’s website, these words are immortal and as true today as when our constitution was first written:

— C H A P T E R 4 —
Freedom of the Press

Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press?.
— First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution

Although a cherished right of the people, freedom of the press is different from other liberties of the people in that it is both individual and institutional. It applies not just to a single person’s right to publish ideas, but also to the right of print and broadcast media to express political views and to cover and publish news. A free press is, therefore, one of the foundations of a democratic society, and as Walter Lippmann, the 20th-century American columnist, wrote, “A free press is not a privilege, but an organic necessity in a great society.” Indeed, as society has grown increasingly complex, people rely more and more on newspapers, radio, and television to keep abreast with world news, opinion, and political ideas. One sign of the importance of a free press is that when antidemocratic forces take over a country, their first act is often to muzzle the press.

Thomas Jefferson, on the necessity of a free press (1787)

The basis of our government being the opinion of the people, the very first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.

http://usinfo.state.gov/products/pubs/rightsof/press.htm

Without a free press, and I mean a news media that fulfills the obligation to our constitution who understand they are one of the first lines of defense against tyranny and despotism, liberty and democracy will not survive! When “the people” are no longer are aware of the truth, and are fed lies and propaganda under the guise of it being “news”, it is impossible to hold-on to a democracy and the very essence of liberty and freedom - the spirit and principles which caused this great nation to be founded.

Our press has been compromised, and now the only thing left to save our country is the people themselves - and to accomplish this seemingly impossible feat, the responsibility falls directly upon those of us who are aware of the truth, and we must not shirk our responsibility to sound the warning to our relatives and neighbors, and above all, find the courage to do more than write and talk about the danger(s) we face, but add action to our beliefs and help to bring about an awakening in the United States that will ring-out and reverberate throughout the country. Yes, we can do it, but it won’t be easy, but the fruits of failure are so impossible to imagine that I believe the American people, acting together, can and will take action in support of our beliefs and work to restore our constitutional standards and the rule of law to a nation that has lost its way.

I’m a firm believer in the separation of church and state, however, if a pastor knows that a tornado is heading directly toward his church, does he ignore it and pray that God will spare his congregation, or will he sound a warning for his parishioners to seek cover until the storm has passed? One of the ways that we can spread the word is through the real churches that believe in the true beliefs of Christianity - not the radical evangelicals that support war in the Middle-East to “help” bring-on the second coming of Christ; if you believe in God, then you know that he doesn’t need any help in bringing about his wishes - and ever since I was a child I was taught that “God helps those who help themselves,” and as grim as the real news is, we need all of the help we can get, and that includes America’s thousands of churches whom truly adhere to the teachings of Christ.

We all know that Bush and Cheney are being urged by Israel to attack Iran, being told that if we don’t do it, they will do it themselves. The probability of war is so thick right now that it’s being written about all over the world, yet Americans see little evidence in our own news that an attack is right around the corner, and the consequences of such an attack will forever change the face of the United States. Don’t take my word for it, read it yourselves, and then print this article and give it to your neighbor, and ask your pastor to sound the alarm as well. As Americans who believe in the rule of law, like our Congress, it is our duty to help to stave off war, and hoping that Congress or someone else will do it has proven to be fruitless, akin to expecting President Bush to tell the truth instead of constantly lying to the public and destroying everything that Americans cherish and believe in, including our belief that no one is above the law, and that includes the President of The United States!

In the past 72 hours, the rhetoric is reaching a feverish pitch, and Congress is vacationing while our economy is crumbling and America is marching toward another war, this one which will make gas and food so expensive that it will cause riots and poverty that will make the Great Depression seem minor in comparison. We have almost no food reserves, millions are losing their homes, and the task of feeding our families and keeping gas in our cars is becoming a national nightmare - and all of this has happened before the first bomb has fallen, which should make it obvious that if Bush attacks Iran, our ability to exist as a free and independent society will be compromised and likely lost forever! Be honest with yourselves; there’s nothing left in the treasury, our troops are strained to the limit, and the United Nations has warned that attacking Iran will turn the Middle-East into a “Ball of Fire!

Read the war rhetoric that has been authored in the past few days, and whether you believe in God or not, it’s time to enlist everyone you know, churches, unions, social groups, anyone and everyone that wishes to exist in a free and democratic society and warn them that we are directly in the path of a “tornado” of hate, loathing and greed, all of it brought upon us by a President that refuses to honor our Constitution and the rule of law. It’s also important to know exactly “who” President Bush is, and what his family has stood for, and by understanding their history, it becomes even more imperative to stop him dead in his tracks and instead of “appeasing” President Bush as happened in 1933 with Prescott Bush, this time we need to prosecute the fascists that are attempting to overthrow America!

Bush Fulfills His Grandfather’s Dream

David Swanson, June 27, 2008

It’s remarkably common for a grandson to take up his grandfather’s major project. This occurred to me when I read recently of Thor Heyerdahl’s grandson taking up his mission to cross the Pacific on a raft. But what really struck me was the BBC story aired on July 23rd, 2007, documenting President George W. Bush’s grandfather’s involvement in a 1933 plot to overthrow the U.S. government and install a fascist dictatorship. I knew the story, but had not considered the possibility that the grandson was trying to accomplish what his grandfather had failed to achieve.

Prescott Sheldon Bush (1895 to 1972) attended Yale University and joined the secret society known as Skull and Bones. Prescott is widely reported to have stolen the skull of Native American leader Geronimo. As far as I know, this has not actually been confirmed. In fact, Prescott seems to have had a habit of making things up. He sent letters home from World War I claiming he’d received medals for heroism. After the letters were printed in newspapers, he had to retract his claims.

I am nothing more than a patriotic American that is doing whatever I can to further the cause of democracy, the rule of law, and am absolutely outraged on how the Bush administration is defying our Congress, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Footnote: I write in a style that I believe is appropriate in today's world where we can't trust the Mainstream News Media, and rather than concentrating on one article alone, which may or may not receive the exposure and emphasis it should, I prefer to meld several relevant stories together, that each taken alone may not expose the entire situation, but when taken-in as a whole, tend to give the reader a better understanding of the subject. One article or story alone does not represent the "Big Picture" - but when several are effectively tied-together it often reveals a trend or broader view of the subject matter that is important to completely understand any given situation. http://justanothercoverup.com/

Actually, Bush is merely helping America destroy itself.

Not to nitpick, but it can't be stressed enough that Bush is only one "man". Of course you're right to implicate Congress and the MSM, but the malaise goes way beyond that.

Where are our Courts? Where are the mass military resignations, "combat refusals", etc.? Where are the "insider" "whistleblowers" from NIST, FBI, NTSB or anywhere else? Where's our Academe? Basically the whole "system" (i.e., all of our institutions), has failed spectacularly.

Put simply, America's sins have apparently caught up with it, and Bush looks to be the instrument of our demise.

An excellent point!

And to all of the above institutions you mentioned - it’s time for all of you to enter the fray. Do your duty as an Americans. When Martial Law is declared, do you know the exact political leanings of all of your family members? What web sites have they been to, what comments have they made? Police officers, while carrying out one of the last “Operation Falcon Runs” will find-out that other units have “disappeared” members of their own families. How will they feel then?

Of our men and women in uniform; how many of them have Moms, Dads, Sisters and Brothers - many of whom have been verbal opponents of the war. How will we fight the so-called” enemy” abroad when our own enemy is locking up freedom loving people right at home? Politics within a family, especially if the children disagree with the parents, is often hidden from other family members, and it is those who have had the courage to speak-out who will become targets - and like the civil war, brother will be pitted against brother.

President Bush has the worst ratings of any President in history, and Cheney fares worse. We can all see what’s happening, and everyone here can read the news, especially that which comes from overseas and is more informative than ours. Why are we so apathetic that we won’t engage in a simple work stoppage to drive our point home, and it would only take a few days for the message to ring across the entire country, and our cowardly Congress would be forced to act! The pain we would feel now is nothing compared to what it will be like if we attack Iran, and for us to remain complacent and refuse to do anything meaningful is not the American Way!
With the history of Germany embedded in our consciousness, how can we sit idly by while the US is marching in exactly the same fashion, and it is only a matter of time until disagreeing with the government becomes a criminal matter that will require “re-education?” For those of us that ply the news attempting to make a difference, the consequences could be even worse, yet we sit and “hope” that everything will be OK when the preponderance of the evidence speaks otherwise! We all need to gaze in our collective mirrors and ask ourselves what will be lost if we simply refuse to go to work until Congress does the same - not with hollow promises but action that is based upon the requirements of the Constitution and the rule of law. When you’re looking into that mirror, forget yourself and try to get a glimpse of your children’s future, which we are still charged with forming, and standing-by while our country is being destroyed without so much of a whimper does not befit us as Americans.
Email all of the heavyweights, David Swanson, Alex Jones, Ariannia Huffington, and contact the site owners of those whom receive millions of hits per day; ask them to editorialize on the same subject with a target of a work stoppage until Congress bends to the will of the people beginning on the seventh (7th) of July. The polls indicate the entire country believes we are heading in the wrong direction, and a November election will not stave-off a war with Iran! The decision is yours, but again, what have you got to lose? This is a matter that could be organized in days, and all it takes if for everyone reading this post to act upon it and forward it to people who can make a difference – and there’s an abundance that could band-together and make it happen! Cross-post this message everywhere, and demand solidarity within our own ranks! It’s not rocket science, but simple mechanics of people taking the time to email their site administrators and everyone that can spread the word- and viola! A non-violent protest is born that our MSM and Congress could not ignore, and we can make our voices heard!

Attempting to save our nation is a personal decision, but we can all see what has happened to our country in the past seven and a half years, and we know, without doubt, that Congress will not act unless forced to do so – and it’s us who can force their hands. Think about your family and take the time to at least try; if enough of you send those emails and voice your support, even to those who I have listed, a movement could begin to finally do something other than watch in horror as everything we hold dear is being swallowed-up and systematically destroyed. If we’re going to be victims, the least we can do is go down knowing that we did our best and had the gumption to do more than talk – to do less is to invite disaster of a scope that hasn’t been witnessed in our country for over 200 years, and even if we’re successful, the road back to prosperity and sanity will be long and arduous.

I've been a broken record with this quote

but it bears repeating: But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security...do we have any disagreement that we have an absolute despot, enabled by the three branches of government?  Or are we still operating under any illusions that it'll all be OK when Obama gets selected?

Bill, it's not only the MSM, it's our pathetic educational system, our nutritionally void poison that passes for food, the pharmaceutical industry manufacturing ills and promising cures to the point that who knows what the effects of the cocktail of pills Americans pop daily are...for thirty years now.  The same thirty years these cretins have been rotating in and out of government and industry...the system is so broken it needs to be totally stopped, recrafted, reformed, and reshaped...but I'm betting time's up what with Peak Oil here and famine coming, oh, sometime around selection time?

There dear, we'll feed you at the Halliburton centers.  Come one, come all!!  With your Blackwater escorts!!  They are there to help, you know!!

The Entire System Has Failed

We really just need to admit the obvious that this existing system, both political and financial have become corrupt to the point where they have abysmally failed and gone cancerous and there is no way to save it, the patient has gone terminal and the insurance has run out. We were all suckered, too bad that most of us only realized it due to the grossly fascist Bush-Cheney-Neocon Axis of Evil and their in your face "EAT THIS" mentality.

The IMF (not exactly an organization that I think highly of) is according to Der Speigel and this link from down under (which I feel offers an good analysis) in the process of conducting a general review of the U.S. crony capitalist financial system - globalism is a bitch because eventually those who have been swindled by the Wall Street Criminals want answers then it is something that can't be simply swept under the rug by the political prostitutes. Not that I have a hell of a lot of hope with this corrupt instutiton invesigating the criminals (like an internal embezzelment audit at Corleone Family Imports) but a lot of people have lost a shitload of money due to the systemic fraud of the so called 'free market' and are looking to exact their pound of flesh. Hell, the day that the perversion of capitalism that exists today goes down and is relegated to history's scrapheap I will be dancing in the streets drunk off of my ass like the poor bastards in Eastern Europe after the fall of communism - another rotten system just like monopoly crony capitalism.

My main concern though is in the complete and utter failure of the quisling DemocRATs to derail the insane right-wing Israeli influence on the dug in lunatics in Dick Cheney's little private government (coup d'etat ala the Edward Luttwak model) to launch World War III with us playing the role of the Germans this time.

There is really no fixing this thing and the feckless DemocRATs need to now bear as much responsibilty for the coming disaster, they punched their tickets with that abominable negation of the Fourth Amendment (far from their only crime against this country) that their little lackeys in the media are trying to provide rearguard cover for. I won't name any names but he dresses nice and hell, everyone has a price and gatekeeper is a pretty good gig to have in Der Homeland.

Great post sir, keep up the good work

We do not have to accept failure!

As Americans are finally feeling the pain of high food cots and absurd gas prices, we face a certainty of a total financial collapse and we may see food riots in the US if Bush attacks Iran. Why have the people forgotten how powerful we are when we band together in solidarity? We have the ability, all by ourselves, to make a difference if we quit making excuses and convincing ourselves "that there is nothing we can do."

That statement is not true - and if we don't go to work, the entire country grinds to a halt. Obviously, some professions will have to be exempted from striking to make sure there is no loss of life; Doctors, pharmacists, and other essential business must go on uninterrupted, but other than that, we have to ability to force Congress to listen to us - and it's not a possibility, but a fact if enough of us become involved. Again, it takes writing to your favorite sites and peppering the well-known Liberal/Progressive Bloggers who do receive enough traffic to quickly organize a few days of calling-in sick, but the impact would be felt and heard around the world.

I almost feel like I'm begging people to stand-up for themselves – when in fact, it serves the common good to get others involved who can make a difference - and then proceed from there. Our first goal should be to get the attention of those whom I already listed and several more I can think of who could actually make a difference. Every single day it gets worse. No one can deny that fact, and our own inaction is allowing it to happen. There's a time for reflection, planning, and discussing the issues, but with the Middle-East on a hair-trigger, now is the time for action if we are to stand-up for our families and attempt to head-off war with Iran and the very distinct possibility of World War III and Martial Law.

We know the high price of oil is because of oil speculators, and the news has pointed out that the lobbyists are pouring millions of dollars into Washington so Congress won't regulate the speculation and perform their oath of oversight and demand accountability from the Carpetbaggers that have descended upon America and the global community. The pain will only worsen, and once the first bombs fall, there won't be an easy solution to keep our nation intact and rescue an economy that is quickly tanking. The fascists know that the worse it gets on us financially, the easier it is to control the masses, and their lead-up to taking over America is almost picture-perfect with other historical fascist takeovers.

Only a dreamer can have a dream come true, and believing in ourselves and putting forth the effort will bear fruit, but being apologetic or negative will do nothing but ensure that they win and we lose. We built this country, and by the sweat of our brows, we run it too. Nothing happens without the people’s participation, and we are more powerful than our own military when we stand together against a common enemy. I’ve heard very persuasive arguments on "why it won't work" when we just as well could argue it the other way, and try to get all of the major Blogs and alternative news sites involved with actually making a difference instead of complaining how bad it is. If half of the energy was spent on convincing the high-profile sites to help us organize, it could happen, especially if some of the more prominent people in the Liberal/Progressive movement wake-up and realize that this may be our last chance at taking a stand.

No society can be enslaved without the consent of the people! The trickery and propaganda is all there, but we are unique in having the Internet as a tool, something that other societies whom lost their freedoms never had. Once the MSM was lost, so was their freedom, and we face a similar situation today, but have the technology and networking capability to bring our cause into mainstream America and work to effectuate change instead of adhering to the status quo. All it takes is the willingness to fight for what we believe in, and work hard at convincing others to join us in defeating those who are attempting to enslave the American people.

Mounds of evidence....

...have been out there for years. It's not the duty of the for-profit media to police the government, Reagan struck down that responsibility in 1988 (Orwell guessed wrong by four years).

It is however, the required duty of Congress to prosecute the Executive for high crimes and misdemeanors. THEY are the spineless, complicit cowards that are selling out our children and the public knows it with disapproval ratings even worse then Dick "So?" Cheney.

Instead of lamenting and just jawing about this, I suggest we take concrete steps by reporting on our local Congressional reps so the truth is online, waiting for voters to look it up in November - and beyond.

I admit I was ignorant about my own Rep up till 2006 when I wrote an article about about his bad vote on net neutrality. Digging deeper, I found he was even worse then I'd thought. Today, my string of articles are among the top hits under searches for his name in Google and a local paper quoted my writing in calling him on the carpet.

You can do this for your Rep too, just write articles here at OEN and tag them with the Rep's name. If your Rep is doing good things, praise them for it.

Ultimately, if OEN becomes a reliable clearinghouse for actionable info on Members of Congress, district-by-district, it will make the site and information even more visible. We have no excuses if we aren't busy Cleaning Our Congress.

American Expat in Asia
pftAmerican Expat in Asia

We give him too much credit

Bush is just helping put the finishing touch on Americans Empire.  This must come to pass in order for the Globalization movement to transition One World Government.

Woodrow Wilson planted the seeds of destruction with the Federal Reserve Act and Income tax, and involving ourselves in a war we had no reason being in.  FDR moved forward planting the seeds of fascism with his New Deal policies and getting us involved in another World War that moved us closer the the NWO with the United Nations.

Fascism is simply a transitioning point from National Democratic Capitalism to Global Communism as envisioned by Marx.

Obama will lead us to the promised land of Global Communism.  He is already being compared to FDR.  he might even lead us to the final World War predicted by Albert Pike.

 Exploding the myth of FDR

In 1915 FDR, as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, led US Marines into Haiti to overturn the only independent black republic. By all accounts, FDR administered Haiti brutally and cruelly with no regard for lives.

In 1920 gross atrocities in Haiti were reported in the media, FDR claimed responsibility but when that caused an uproar, he denied responsibility.

In 1921 - A Senate subcommittee concluded that FDR had committed perjury before a Naval Court of Inquiry about his investigation of a homosexual corruption ring at the Newport, RI, Naval Station. FDR, as Assistant Secretary of the Navy, had approved the use of decoys to entrap homosexuals.

In 1928 FDR became Governor of New York by means of massive vote fraud in Buffalo.

In 1932 he promised "I propose to you that the government, big and little, be made solvent and that the example be set by the President of the United States and his cabinet...Stop the deficits! Stop the deficits!......[I will] reduce the cost of government operations 25 percent" He also called for a sound gold currency. In 1933 he proceeded to do exactly the opposite of what he had promised.

He was the leader in Executive Orders issued by far, over 3700. Of course, those were tough times and he served (dicatated) into his 4th term, but he was indeed the first truly unitary Executive, not Bush.

In 1933 Stalin himself was butchering millions of his own people, may of them Christian in his war against religion. Yet FDR diplomatically recognized him in 1933, calling him Uncle Joe, and set up the Export Import bank that guaranteed loans from the US to the Soviets.

In 1933 Hitler came to power. Hitler was allowed to build up Germany from ashes into a military machine, the US and British Industries and Financial Institutions played a big role by investing there. FDR, allowed this, despite Hitlers Jewish policies and his knowledge of what was written in Mein Kampf. Hitler said what he was going to do , and he did it, or are at least tried, yet no effort by FDR to stop US investment in Hitlers Germany.

In 1933 FDR issued an Executive Order which would force the American people to give up their gold in exchange for paper money. When the passing of the appropriate legislation was accomplished, the American people were forced to give up their gold for this new paper money called "greenbacks" or US Government Notes (contrast this with the Federal Reserve Notes which we now have). Shortly thereafter, the government raised the price of gold from 20 dollars/oz to 35 dollars/oz. In short, the government (during the great depression) had robbed the Americans of over three billion dollars.

A lot of Gold owned by the Big money men was not turned in and was sent illegally to Switzerland, where the central banks central bank (BIS in Basel) had been set up in 1930, shareholders included the same people who own the Fed. They profited greatly by the increased value of gold. Some of this money was used to finance Hitler and Stalins military buildup, and even after we entered the war.

In 1933, FDR gave us the New Deal. The key to this was the NRA(National Recovery Administration) and AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Administration) which paid American farmers 700 million to burn their crops, shoot their cattle, throw out their milk; all of this in the midst of a "Great Depression", where millions of Americans were starving and homeless, and some estimates put the number of people who starved at several million. But allowing food to be sold at below market prices to those who could not afford the market prices would disturb the markets, so the government subsidized the farmers to destroy food or not produce it. Yes, FDR and Uncle Joe had much in common. "Stalin is my brother" - FDR after Tehran.

The NRA was a total assault on free enterprise. Industry was to be straight jacketed into government-mandated cartels given the authority to set prices, determine production levels, and regulate the workplace. This was something akin to Mussolini's fascist corporativism; and expanded executive power at the expense of the Congress and the courts.

In 1934 he created the FCC and used it to control news programs from radio broadcasts (broadcast negativity and stations were threatened with losing their license)

In 1935 Supreme Court unanimously ruled FDR's National Recovery Administration , unconstitutional. Yet the regulatory agencies serve the same function. Do you really believe FDA, FAA, USDA, FTC, etc exist to protect the people. They protect the cartels.

In 1935 FDR created the the Works Progress Administration (WPA) which was the largest New Deal agency, employing millions of people and affecting most every locality in the United States, especially rural and western mountain populations. We are told this public works program introduced by President Roosevelt became a salvation for the jobless and landless Americans. The works conducted under the Public Works Administration and the Civil Works Administration built channels, roads or bridges in remote and dangerous territories and paid little after taxes and fees, and there were many deaths. Prison labour was also included in the work force. The conditions which people were working for food, might be compared to Stalin’s GULAG camps. As Stalin said, if you don't work, you don't eat.

1936 Supreme Court ruled FDR's Agricultural Adjustment Administration (AAA) unconstitutional.

In 1937 FDR was pretty ticked off with the Supreme Court and with both the Social Security Act and the Wagner Act pending before the Supreme Court, FDR proposed in Congress that he sack the current Supreme Court and "re-organize" it by allowing him to appoint six new justices.

In 1938 Congress defeated FDR's dictator bill.

FDR & the Congress raised the effective federal tax rate by 700% between 1932 & 1939. He could have just printed his own money like Lincoln instead of borrowing it and collecting it from taxes in a country that was trying to lift itself out of a depression. But given his Wall Street Connections, he would not go up against the Fed.

In the 1940 campaign, FDR repeatedly promised to keep the country out of war and then did everything in his power to involve the country in war.

In 1941, before being attacked by japan, FDR declared an unlimited state of emergency. Through 3 declarations of National emergency - March 1933, September 9, 1939, and May 27, 1941, FDR usurped as much dictatorial power as Hitler had on paper. The first was codified in HR 1491, No. 1 and gave FDR the same powers as in war. We have since been under one state of emergency or another.

In 1941 FDR cut off Japans oil knowing this would mean war, and allowed Pearl Harbour to be attacked taking care to remove any aircraft carriers, and thus getting us into the war that he promised to keep us out of.

During the period of Hitlers regime, Jewish immigration was restricted and even some ships filled with refugees were turned away for US ports.

In 1945 FDR at YALTA delivered 725 million people into Communist rule

God help us if Obama is going to be like FDR.

Response to Harold's and William's posts

Harold, excellent point!
But where are the courts?
Undermined by Bush and the COngress, who have been systematically legislating to take away its power to be a "check" on random government power.

Don't forget that one judge's family was murdered....during this Administration. I regret that I no longer have the link and don't recall the title of the article. But it's true.

The "spectacular failure" you describe is the result of post-911 legislation which supports the bogus claim of "executive privilege", grants unilateral power, takes away power from the Judiciary and other checks/balances, and generally converts us to a police state in which we are under the thumb of one crazed criminal maniac: Bush.

*************************************************************

I want to underscore what you have said, William, about our having power. Because I think we need to be reminded---and to remind Congress----that  WE PAY THEM.

All this garbage on OUR tax dollars? No thanks.

Time for a new declaration of independence?
It's perhaps no coincidence that Oklahoma declared sovereignty.

Time to follow suit!

Let's also not forget how many politicians have resigned from the highest of public offices to avoid scandal. Yes, during this administration. Does that mean that we, the poeple, have no power? Methinks not. What of the fact that Senators regularly reverse their position as Moveon.org submits signatures by the millions?

Take heart, folks. We DO have power in the masses, it's just in the smaller numbers that we don't. ONWARDS HO!
