Any American who watches Bill Moyer's harrowing PBS documentary TORTURING DEMOCRACY will not only be shocked by the Bush Administration's move to the dark side but the key role of Dick Cheney in implementing this blatant abuse of executive power: Allen L Roland
I just finished watching Part One of Bill Moyer's TORTURING DEMOCRACY ~ From 9/11 to Waterboarding: The Inside Story and it was a harrowing experience of watching evil perpetuated and condoned by morally corrupt leaders, led by Dick Cheney ~ who were committed to breaking all moral conventions and laws to accomplish their evil means and legally cover their tracks in the process. f and it was From 9/11 to waterboarding:
The documentary TORTURING DEMOCRACY tells the story of how the United States government circumvented tradition and law to adopt torture as official policy. The film, produced by award-winning filmmaker Sherry Jones, draws on interviews, archival footage, and recently declassified documents to piece together the development and dissemination of torture tactics from Bagram in Afghanistan to Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib ~ and the document trail leads right to the top of the chain of command. That means George W Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Condoleezza Rice, George Tenet, Alberto Gonzales and their legal stooge John Yoo.
Sherry Jones and the film were honored last week with the prestigious RFK Journalism Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. "Torturing Democracy" was cited for its "meticulous reporting," and described as "the definitive broadcast account of a deeply troubling chapter in recent American history."
Moyers correctly points out how VP Dick Cheney, starting with 9/11, assumed unprecedented executive power through his office to coordinate, implement and justify war crimes including waterboarding ~ which is really controlled drowning. Cheney had his own War Council ( all lawyers including Yoo ) to legally justify his illegal actions ~ all under the banner of The War on Terror.
