"I don't trust the government, I don't trust the banks, I don't trust the political parties, and I don't trust the IMF. We had a good country here and they've ruined it."

A dispirited Icelander regarding the economic collapse and recent violent protests.

Iceland was once the second wealthiest country in the world. The country has only about 300,000 citizens and enjoyed a standard of living that was the envy of the world. Iceland is high tech and was moving swiftly toward energy independence. Unfortunately, they made one fantastic error. They trusted the banksters. They allowed -- Kaupthing, Landsbanki and Glitnir --to ruin their financial system by  aggressive overseas expansion resulting in billions of dollars in debt. The currency was destroyed and Iceland had to turn to a loan from the International Monetary Fund. Now the good people of Iceland are losing their jobs, homes, pensions, and future. But Icelanders have not taken the loss lying down and have engaged in protests that have turned violent.

So what does this mean for the people of the United States?

Well, it means that the result of the 7 something trillion dollar bailout of financial institutions  will mean a heavy price to pay later for the American people. What Americans may not realize is that this money will have to be paid back by them. This means that Americans have just given away any hope for a decent future standard of living to bailout the super rich and powerful financial institutions that presently control this country.

The bad news is that Obama has decided to fill his Administration with the same people that created the mess we presently see on Wall Street. The good news is that Clinton supporters can feel good that they didn't really lose the democratic nomination since Obama has created a Clinton Administration for the next 4 years. So much for change.

After globalization was introduced to the public with the implementation of NAFTA in the early 90s. There also was a rolling out of a technological police state that was pushed into high gear with 9/11.  Many Americans applauded Patriot Acts 1 and 2, the cameras, the monitoring, the illegal wiretaps, the torture, and the rest as a way to protect their freedoms. But in reality this technological police state was actually being implemented to protect globalization and the fascist interlocking system of government, finance, and industry.

So the raping of Iceland by the banksters is similar to the raping of the American people by the banksters. But what will likely happen when Americans get a good understanding of the real price that they will be paying for the trillions spent on those too big to fail? It is possible, like the Icelanders, that the American people will move to the streets in protest. It is possible that it will turn violent. It is possible that things will turn really ugly and brutal.

This brutal future may turn out to be a surprise to millions of Americans. But it won't be  a surprise to the military industrial complex. This complex of financial, military, and industrial elite knew that a tiny fraction of any system cannot steal the resources and wealth at the expense of the rest of the system without some future breakdown. They implemented the weaponry, the technology, and the laws to protect them from their own actions.

They are ready.
