TIP #5 - OPPOSE OBAMA AND HILLARY’S PRO-WAR/PRO-MILITARISM STANCES INSTEAD OF DOING WHAT WAS DONE DURING KERRY’S RUN

During John Kerry’s run for office, the peace movement rolled over and let Kerry run for office with his pro-war/pro-militaristic stances. The peace movement cannot lie down and let Obama or Hillary trot out their platitudes and rhetoric on hope and change. The peace movement must stand up and oppose the candidacies of Obama or Hillary which will continue this “war on terror.”

Be creative. Do not offend the mainstream public. Above all, develop a way to go after the complicity of Hillary and Barack.

TIP #6: SUPPORT ALL CANDIDATES AND POLITICIANS SUPPORTIVE OF THE PEACE MOVEMENT

The peace movement should not play politics by promoting Democratic, Republican, Libertarian, Green, Communist, Socialist, Anarchist, or even Peace & Freedom Party politics. It should, however, keep the peace movement informed on all politicians who endorse calls for an end to war and the curbing of militarism in America.

In addition to being informed, it should present all of these politicians as options for people members of the peace movement could or should vote for if they can.

That means people like Ron Paul would be supported by progressives and liberals in the peace movement because he is for scaling back our military. They would recognize they are part of a peace movement and not the anti-Libertarian Conservative movement. Likewise, conservatives and libertarians in the peace movement would support people like Ralph Nader, Mike Gravel, Cynthia McKinney, or Dennis Kucinich. They would recognize they are not part of an anti-Progressive Greens movement.

The peace movement would support PeaceCandidates.com and help the site become more than just a site that covers peace candidates for Congress but also peace candidates running for election on the city, county, and state level.

TIP #7 – MEDIA OUTREACH, CREATING THE ETHOS FOR DEFEATING THE PRO-WAR IDEOLOGY IN AMERICA

Alternative media and independent media are eager to post and publish the developments in the peace movement (which will be the impeachment movement) if the people involved write up stories, write up press releases, or put together letters to the editor and submit them to alternative/independent media. These updates are necessary to the survival of the peace movement.

Submit them to corporate media too. While it is unlikely they will be published, if they are published, the success will be huge. The success will make all previous failures with the corporate media worth the trouble that was caused.

Also, the importance of creating videos of actions and events is important too. User-friendly sites like YouTube and UStream.TV and Google Video are great places to put up peace movement videos to be posted, reposted, and spread all over the Internet and specifically, the blogosphere where people are constantly interested in updates on the war and impeachment.

Call in to radio shows that are popular political talk shows in your area.

The media especially the Internet is the life of the peace movement. Value it (and support the avenues available to you by educating people on the importance of Net Neutrality).

Success in media outreach will show the peace movement is alive and well, something the American public needs to know if they are going to support the movement.

TIP #8 – GET ORGANIZED

Again, I push Scott Ritter’s book Waging Peace and ask that the peace movement abandon its “flat-line” approach or horizontal organization and institute a chain of command that impresses the importance of having followers and leaders in the movement.
