Thanks a lot for this article
Showing in specific and personal terms what you are doing for your country and showing also your Congressmans response. This is exactly the sort of article that should empower and inform other activists and indeed other constituents of your Congressmans current state of mind. Knowing his state of mind enables others to offer advice and to suggest ways to continue to try to persuade. It also allows others to try their own approach. This is, in my opinion, what good citizenship looks like. If I get a chance I would like to come back and revisit this article to offer suggestions. I did Google on HR 133 which you mention (but your Congressman does not) and I see that it has its own entry in Wikipedia. Thanks again. Hopefully more from others and (me) later. by Brett Paatsch (0 articles, 3 quicklinks, 23 diaries, 1308 comments) on Wednesday, Oct 31, 2007 at 12:22:33 AM

Reply: Share the views of your Congressional Reps
Thanks, I'd love it if others used this thread or started new ones to list how their Reps feel about impeachment and why. I held back (till now) on pointing out the condescending tone of my elected representative telling me not to bother with this, but instead wait and signal my feelings through the 08 vote. I did mention that I am especially stressed because I have family headed for Iraq any day, but received only a list of second-priority bills passed by this Congress. I guess I needed to lower my expectations as Congress abandons their principles. The 06 voters wanted OUT of Iraq, giving Congress the majority to do so. The Congress has failed so far and is now "telling" us to do nothing for another year? Makes you appreciate the leaders with the courage to work for the people. Following Hillary down a prescribed set of no-risk "moderate" issues, Democrats are content to stay safely under the radar, regardless the stench of corruption they also now waft in. by Gustav Wynn (77 articles, 65 quicklinks, 5 diaries, 421 comments [34 recommended, 0 rejected]) on Wednesday, Oct 31, 2007 at 7:42:33 PM

Epidemic
There seems to be some kind of virus going around and it has infected all but 22 Congresspersons (those brave souls who will stand with Congressman Kucinich demanding impeachment proceedings be started). Maybe it's just something in the inside-the-Beltway air; but even representatives I used to count on have contracted it...and people wonder why Congress gets lower ratings than even the nefarious George Bush. If the majority of Democrats in Congress can't show the same courage and devotion to duty as Kucinich, et al., I see only one course of action that conscientious citizens can pursue--Throw The Bums Out, along with the army of career apparatchiks running the DNC. If that doesn't work, it's time for all of us to start looking for--and/or building--a political party that will represent the Public Interest. Neither of the "two" parties can lay claim to being a "lesser evil" if its members continue to sit by twiddling their thumbs and playing their interminable games. Where is the OUTRAGE among those who are supposed to be representing us...those who are supposed to work for the Public Interest, rather than working in furtherance of their personal political fortunes?!
