which even now is washing up

in a pestilent, tumorous tide

in our attics and closets

thrift stores and garages

landfills and storage units

soon it will drown us,

most deservedly, in the glut,

cowards who gave their inheritance

of freedom up

for the privilege and the pleasure

of licking Massa's invisible hand

as we die American Dreaming

not of freedom

but only and always of
