The extreme left must recognize that with no adequately manned border security, we are being inundated with countless undocumented people who are not citizens and are not accepted by the majority of the American people. That is the reality the far left refuses to recognize.
Thus the border security needs to be beefed up (particularly our southern border) and made more secure. There is no way to make it impenetrable but increased and effective border patrol needs to be implemented.
Realistically, all current undocumented aliens residing in this country must be given the opportunity to attain full citizenship. Probably some fine is in order but they must be afforded the chance to become full and respected members of the society. Only citizenship can do that.
Some form of clearinghouse must be established that would be a data base of aliens which employers could easily access and determine whether a prospective worker is legal. Then there would be question (or excuse) by employers about who they are about to hire. Concomitantly, employers who continue to hire "illegals" must be given significant fines if they continue the practice.
Therefore, full amnesty should be given to all who work toward full citizenship.
Lastly, to implement these steps a date certain must be established for these steps to become the law of the land. After that date, the law must be enforced to the full extent and violators be held to account, (so the current mockery of the law is transcended and overcome).
There is no perfect solution to any problem, least of all the issue of illegal immigration (which has gotten progressively worse from neglect and pretending it doesn't exist).
It is long past the time for "real" reform to be enacted.
