The Abyss
And while the few, the Rich
flaunt themselves before us,
taunting, tempting
"You can BUY your way
to being just like me,"
they shudder even as they profit for
HELL
would be finding themselves lost
here with the rest of us
in democratic commonality.
It strips the pretense
of their inherent difference
from you and her and him
and them and me.
So even as they spur us on
to imitation they quake,
because for us to be just like them
would make them just like us
and thus the termination of their
"innate" Darwinian superiority
and the recognition they're the same
meaningless nonentities they always claimed
the rest of us to be.
They would
...vanish...
in the abyss
of our common "nothingness"
since they have no self-worth unless
the rest can be convinced
of the artificial specialness
of the same "aristocracy"
we overthrew in '76.
