As a reminder to longtime OEN readers and an introduction to newer ones, I think it would be helpful to note this site's national leadership role in the media in exposing via many columns the 2006 Bush administration frame-up on corruption charges of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, his state's leading Democrat.
The prosecution had the effect of destroying in effect the Democratic Party in the state, empowering a radical right opposition Republican Party clique able to leverage its power nationally, along with the more direct impact of imprisoning Siegelman and his co-defendant for more than five years apiece on clearly bogus charges.
Special Counsel Nora Dannehy was appointed to investigate such scandals but chose to avoid interviewing witnesses and victims, thereby whitewashing the scandal and those like it occurring nationally -- and up to the present.
