If you read the book "An American Sickness" by Elizabeth Rosenthal, M.D., you will learn why our US healthcare system is so dysfunctional and how it came to be this way. For profit insurance companies, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical device companies, doctors, professional medical and healthcare associations and their lobbyists all have a hand in making this a problem. Although this book is good and describing the history in detail, along with tips on how to survive in the interim, it is short on prescribing the real solution and a strategy to get there, which Dr. Flowers is supporting, which is universal single payer healthcare for all, from birth to death. The question is for all parties involved, is how much profit is enough? How do we get these greed addicted parties to believe in what 60% of the American public support, health care is a right and not a priviledge?
