On Tuesday, June 30th from Noon - 1:15 p.m. (**please note the earlier time**), join Senator Liz Krueger and Dr. Heidi Larson for the third Virtual Town Hall about Reopening New York City. During the second Town Hall in this series, Dr. Demetre Daskalakis explained that one goal of the Test, Trace and Take Care (T3) program is to help address any resurgences in COVID-19 transmission that occur before a vaccine is developed. Furthermore, that a vaccine is unlikely to be developed before a resurgence occurs. The development of a COVID-19 vaccination is integral to keeping New York City open for business and to controlling the virus over time, yet rumors about COVID-19 vaccinations are already circulating, as is distrust of the vaccine-development process. Part 3 of this series will offer information on the history of vaccine hesitancy, how the public makes decisions about the safety of medical interventions, and the importance of addressing inaccurate information to maximize potential measures to contain COVID-19 through vaccination.

Dr. Larson is Professor of Anthropology, Risk and Decision Science at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and Director of The Vaccine Confidence Project (VCP), a World Health Organization (WHO) Centre of Excellence on addressing Vaccine Hesitancy. Professor Larson's research focuses on the analysis of social and political factors that can affect uptake of health interventions and influence policies. Her particular interest is on risk and rumor management from clinical trials to delivery - and building public trust. She is currently the Principal Investigator for a global study on Public Sentiments and Emotions Around Current and Potential Measures to Contain and Treat COVID-19.

You will have the option to view the event online through Facebook or to listen by calling in. Please note that you do not need a Facebook account or profile to view the event.
