ACTION ALERTS
Alert #1: On Monday, 3/16, call your Senators and Representative and ask them and/or their staff to attend the event listed below on Tuesday and Wednesday. Congress is in recess this week, so they will be in New York. Tell them that as a constituent, it's important to you that they make every effort to understand the implications of TPP, and these events are a great opportunity for them to learn from experts. In particular, urge Senator Gillibrand, who is an outspoken advocate for women's rights but so far hasn't been on the right side on TPP, to attend the Wednesday Women and Trade event - but also call Senator Schumer (or Booker and Menendez if you are in NJ) and your representative. You can learn who you Representative is and find your Representative and Senators' contact info at http://tradejustice.net/leg.
Alert #2: Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz had an excellent op-ed in the New York Times yesterday: http://tradejustice.net/stig. This is a great opportunity to write letters to the Times about why our Congressmembers must oppose Fast Track Authority for TPP. To easily generate a letter you can use Progressive Democrats of America's letter to the editor generating tool at http://tradejustice.net/pdalet.
