The signal from Montreal is that the world must embrace low-carbon development at the world trade talks (Expert view, December 12), including more efficient appliances, cleaner vehicles and the conservation of old forests. But in Hong Kong, there is a danger that a quite different message will emerge. Talks on so-called non-agricultural market access are on the agenda. These include proposals for the liberalisation of trade in environmentally sensitive sectors including electrical goods, vehicles, fisheries, timber and minerals.OpedNews volunteer from 2005 to 2013.
